The Milwaukee Riverwalk is a continuous pedestrian walkway along the Milwaukee River in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Description Conceived in the 1990s to increase public access to the waterway, the Milwaukee Riverwalk has grown to include art displays called RiverSculpture!, the RiverSplash! festival (which ended a 20-year run in 2009), Riverwalk Park, water taxi landings, and other venues such as cafés, and brewpubs. The Milwaukee Riverwalk extends from the Historic Third Ward district to Caesars Park near Brady Street. It also links to the Henry Aaron State Trail, Lakeshore State Park, and Erie Street Plaza. Hank Aaron
Henry Louis Aaron (February 5, 1934 – January 22, 2021), nicknamed "Hammer" or "Hammerin' Hank", was an American professional baseball right fielder who played 23 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1954 through 1976. One of the greatest baseball players in history, he spent 21 seasons with the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves in the National League (NL) and two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League (AL). The Milwaukee County Historical Society, also known as MCHS, is a local historical society in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Founded in 1935, the organization was formed to preserve, collect, recognize, and make available materials related to Milwaukee County history. It is located in downtown Milwaukee in the former Second Ward Savings Bank building. MCHS houses the Harry H. Anderson Research Library and a museum. Interstate 794 (I-794; also known as East–West Freeway, Lake Parkway, and Lake Freeway) is a auxiliary Interstate Highway in Milwaukee County in the US state of Wisconsin. Erie Street Plaza
Erie Street Plaza is a park and public space in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that opened in 2010. Description Located in the Historic Third Ward neighborhood, the plaza is connected to the Milwaukee Riverwalk and situated at the confluence of the Milwaukee River and the Kinnickinnic River, just west of the entrance to the Milwaukee Harbor from Lake Michigan. The Hoan Bridge and Milwaukee Pierhead Light are located to the east of the plaza and are visible from it. After a design competition, a proposal from Stoss Landscape Urbanism, a Boston firm, was selected. The plaza design features native prairie plants, yellow fiberglass benches that are illuminated at night, and several pathways with edges that blend into the vegetation. Lakeshore State Park
Lakeshore State Park is a Wisconsin state park located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the city of Milwaukee. It is situated adjacent to both Discovery World and Henry Maier Festival Park. It is the only urban state park in Wisconsin and features restored prairie and a pebble beach. In addition to the prairie, portions of the park are planted with Kentucky bluegrass. The park has a paved trail that connects to both the Hank Aaron State Trail and the Oak Leaf Trail. The park features a fishing pier overlooking a basin, on the side opposite Lake Michigan. There are also boat slips at the north end of the park that can be used overnight.
