Million Dollar Kid
''Million Dollar Kid'' is a 1944 American film directed by Wallace Fox starring the East Side Kids. Plot In the East Side Kids' clubhouse, Muggs McGinnis laments the epidemic of mugging that has been plaguing their streets. While waiting outside a store that afternoon, the boys witness a man being attacked in the alley and come to his defense, chasing away his assailants. In gratitude, the man, millionaire John Cortland, hands Muggs his business card. When the cynical Muggs tosses the card in a garbage can, Glimpy McClosky digs it out and finds the man's cash-laden wallet in the trash. After the boys deliver the wallet to Capt. Mathews of the police department, the captain mistakes them for the thieves and arrests them. Cortland soon arrives at the police station to claim his wallet, however, and identifies the boys as his rescuers. Gabriel Dell
Gabriel Dell (born Gabriel Marcel Dell Vecchio; October 8, 1919 – July 3, 1988) was an American actor and one of the members of what came to be known as the Dead End Kids, then later the East Side Kids and finally The Bowery Boys. Acting career Born in New York City, Dell almost made his stage debut a few years before ''Dead End'' when he and his sister were slated for roles in ''The Good Earth'' with Alla Nazimova and Claude Rains. Dell served in the United States Merchant Marine during World War II. He appeared in numerous films as a Dead End Kid/East Side Kid/Bowery Boy. In the 1944 East Side Kids film Million Dollar Kid, Dell actually appeared as a criminal villain, pitted against the boys, who gets brought to justice in the end. Anthony Sebastian Cristillo (December 10, 1902 – February 13, 1990), professionally known as Pat Costello, was an American actor, producer, stunt double and brother of comedian Lou Costello. He is credited as the executive producer for the American television sitcom ''The Abbott and Costello Show''. Early life Costello was born in Paterson, New Jersey to Sebastiano Cristillo and Helen Rege. He served in the army during World War I and played the saxophone for bandleader Paul Whiteman as well as his own orchestra. Mary Gordon (born Mary Gilmour; 16 May 1882 – 23 August 1963) was a Scottish actress who mainly played housekeepers and mothers, most notably the landlady Mrs. Hudson in the Sherlock Holmes series of movies of the 1940s starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Her body of work included nearly 300 films between 1925 and 1950. Robert Greig (December 27, 1879 – June 27, 1958) was an Australian-American actor who appeared in more than 100 films between 1930 and 1949, usually as the dutiful butler. Born Arthur Alfred Bede Greig, he was the nephew of Australian politician and solicitor William Bede Dalley. He was commonly known as "Bob". Career Greig was born near Melbourne, in 1878. He married fellow actor Beatrice Denver Holloway in 1912.
