Anna Millikin
Anna Millikin (19 January 1764 – at least 1849) was a teacher and author of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. She was one of the earliest Irish women to write Gothic novels and established the literary periodical the ''Casket or Hesperian Magazine''. Early years Millikin was born at Castlemartyr, County Cork from an originally Quaker family. She was the daughter of Robert Millikin and Elizabeth Battaley. Her grandfather, Robert Millikin, was a Belfast linen merchant of Scottish descent. He moved to the Boyle estate at Castlemartyr. At that point, the family became members of the established church. Career Millikin was one of the earliest women writers of Gothic fiction. She wrote at least four books. She also founded and contributed to the literary periodical the ''Casket or Hesperian Magazine'' (Cork, 1797–98) with her brother Richard Alfred Milliken (1767-1815) who was a poet. Charlotte Millikin Hoak
Charlotte Milliken Hoak (1874-1967) was a 20th-century teacher, Horticulture, horticulturist, occasional Botany, botanist and garden columnist in Southern California. She advocated the use of native plants for landscaping public places including roadsides because they were best suited for the environment and did not draw on scarce water resources. As a teacher she taught organic gardening and composting techniques to her elementary school students and members of the community. Charlotte received recognition and awards from several plant societies, garden clubs, and well known botanists and horticulturists with whom she worked. Her contributions to the field of horticulture and her advocacy for the conservation of natural resources and preservation of wild-lands is documented and warrants recognition. Milki
Milki (Hindi:मिल्की, Urdu:ملکی ) is a Muslim community in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The clan originated in the Awadh region. A few Milki clans were founded in Karachi, Pakistan. Some of them converted from the Hindu Jat people, Jat and Bhumihar community of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Milki kept the surnames used in the Hindu Jat community. In Northern India, the community speaks Urdu and its dialects (Awadhi and Khari Boli). In Pakistan, the community speaks Punjabi language, Punjabi. Milki, together with the Qidwai, Malik, and Chaudhary, is one of the four subgroups of a community that collectively forms the Jatt Muslims. James Millikin House
The James Millikin House is a historic house located at 125 N. Pine St. in Decatur, Illinois. The house was built in 1876 for James Millikin, a wealthy Decatur businessman who later founded Millikin University. The house has a towered Italianate design which has been called the "most imposing Victorian remnant" in Decatur. A mansard roof on the tallest tower provides a Second Empire influence to the design. The house's interior decorations include colored marble fireplaces, art glass windows, and a fresco above the main staircase. The Millikin Big Blue are the intercollegiate athletic programs of Millikin University (MU) located in Decatur, Illinois, United States. The Big Blue athletic program is a member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and competes at the NCAA Division III level. History Millikin University was a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Its athletics programs were established together with the university in 1903, with football, men’s basketball and baseball all competing in the University’s first full academic year (1903–04). James Millikin Bevans
James Millikin Bevans (October 12, 1899 – May 1, 1977) was a major general in the United States Air Force. Biography Bevans was born in San Francisco, California, in 1899. His parents were United States Army Colonel James Lung Bevans of Platteville, Wisconsin, and Dessie Millikin Bevans of Decatur, Illinois. Their graves are adjacent to each other at Arlington National Cemetery. He married Lorna Downs, who died in 1999. Bevans died on May 1, 1977. Career Bevans entered the United States Military Academy in 1917, but did not graduate. However, he enlisted in the Student Army Training Corps at Princeton University. Bevans completed his officer training at Camp Lee and be commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army. In 1922 Bevans graduated from the United States Army Field Artillery School. Earl Millikin
William Earl Millikin (September 30, 1890–March 23, 1970) was the Mayor of Seattle, Washington from 1941 to 1942. Millikin was born on September 30, 1890, in Oswego, Kansas. He attended several schools including Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas; the University of Oregon; the University of Washington; and the University of California. Before the 1919–1920 school year, Millikin resigned his teaching position at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon. He arrived at Queen Anne High School in Seattle in 1919 as a history teacher and athletic coach. He resigned from the high school eleven years later, working for a book publisher and the Department of Labor and Industries. John Millikin
Major General John Millikin (January 7, 1888 – November 6, 1970) was a senior United States Army officer who served in both World War I and World War II. During the latter, Millikin commanded III Corps in General George S. Patton's U.S. Third Army during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944.
