Millennium Records
Millennium Records is a defunct record label run by record producer Jimmy Ienner from 1976 to 1983. During its RCA-distributed years, a significant portion of its output was content licensed from Canadian record labels. Hits The label's best-selling artist was electronic music pioneer Meco, whose disco cover of John Williams' " Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band" cues from ''Star Wars'' was a number 1 hit in 1977. In 1978, Meco followed up with two more movie-inspired hits for the label: a number 25 hit "Theme From Close Encounters" and a number 35 hit "Themes From The Wizard of Oz". In 1981, Don McLean had three hits on the Millennium label: "Crying" which peaked at number 5; a number 23 song, "Since I Don't Have You" and a number 36 song, " Castles in the Air". Jimmy Ienner
Jimmy Ienner ( ; born ) is an American music producer, best known for producing albums for such artists as Bay City Rollers, The Raspberries and Three Dog Night. Biography He went to Stamford (Connecticut) High School and graduated in 1963. He grew up in the Cove section of Stamford and while still in high school, Ienner formed and sang with the Barons. They charted with a tune titled "Pledge of a Fool" on the Epic label. Ienner and his brother Don Ienner founded the publishing house C.A.M. U.S.A., which operated from 1972 to 1977. C.A.M. U.S.A. was a publishing, management and production company which represented such artists as American Asfault, Three Dog Night, Grand Funk Railroad, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Air Supply, Raspberries, and Eric Carmen. The Godz are an American hard rock band from Columbus, Ohio, that formed in 1976. History Formed in 1976, the band conceived their moniker only to later learn of a band from New York City already known as the Godz. A monetary settlement allowed them to keep their name. The Godz did not have a recording contract when they hit the road with Kiss alongside Cheap Trick in 1977. The band released its debut album, '' The Godz'', the next year on Millennium Records. In addition to being on the Kiss ''Love Gun'' tour, they played on what was billed as the "Heaven and Hell Tour" by embarking on the road with Angel.
