Mill Creek Covered Bridge
The Mill Creek Covered Bridge also known as "Thompson's Ford Covered Bridge," "Tow Path Covered Bridge," or "Earl Ray Covered Bridge" crosses Wabash Mill Creek (historic) southwest of Tangier, Indiana. It is a single span Burr Arch Truss covered bridge structure that was built by D. M. Brown in 1907. ''Note:'' This includes Site map and Accompanying photographs. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. History The bridge crosses Mill Creek near land that was owned by Thornton Thompson. Though Thompson's Ford was probably named after Joseph Thompson who built a small mill nearby in 1829. It's also been suggested that Earl Ray Covered Bridge comes from a prominent nearby citizen and well known auctioneer. The name Tow Path Covered Bridge comes from the fact that Tow Path Road crosses the bridge. The Wabash and Erie Canal crossed Mill creek just to the south of where the bridge is built. The Mill Creek Bridge is located north of Cherokee, Iowa, United States. It spans Mill Creek for . On June 24, 1891, a disastrous flood along the Little Sioux River and its tributaries wiped out nearly every bridge in Cherokee County. The following month the county board of supervisors signed a contract with the George E. King Bridge Co. of Des Moines for 17,650 to replace the bridges. This Pratt truss bridge was fabricated by the King Bridge Company of Cleveland, Ohio. It and a similar span over Mill Creek near Larrabee are the only two that remain. Mill Creek Bridge (Clarence, Iowa)
Mill Creek Bridge is a historic structure located in a rural area north of Clarence, Iowa, United States.The Cedar Bluff Bridge over the Cedar River was the first all-iron span built in Cedar County in 1877. Four more iron spans were built later that year, as were several others over the years before this bridge was completed in 1889. It is the only one of those bridges left, and one of the oldest pony truss bridges in the state of Iowa. Citizens in Dayton Township petitioned the Cedar County Board of Supervisors in June 1888 for the bridge over Mill Creek. The supervisors contracted with Ward and Keepers of Clinton, Iowa to design and build the bridge. The span was built on concrete-filled iron cylinder piers, with timber stringer approach spans. The Mill Creek Park Suspension Bridge is a bridge in Youngstown, Ohio, United States. The 1895 bridge carries Valley Drive across Mill Creek to connect the east and west sides of Mill Creek Park. Following the wishes of Volney Rogers to create fanciful park entrances, Charles Fowler of the Youngstown Bridge Co. designed the structure. The Suspension Bridge is the oldest of six bridges in Mill Creek Park. It measures 86 feet long and 32 feet wide and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
