Military Secretary (Pakistan)
The Military Secretary (MS) is an administrative post in the federal government of Pakistan tasked with appointment, posting and other military administrative privileges given by the government. In Pakistan's political system, a military secretary to the prime minister of Pakistan is held by a military personnel with a rank of brigadier, while military secretary to the president of Pakistan is usually held by a military officer with lieutenant colonel or equivalent rank. Military Secretary is entitled to assist the office with correspondence in staff. Since the office is literary held by an aide-de-camp (ADC), a MS does not execute promotions and appointments of military officers independently. The Pakistan Army (, ) is the Army, land service branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces. The Military Secretary is the British Army office with responsibility for appointments, promotion, postings and discipline of high ranking officers of the British Army. It is a senior British Army appointment, held by an officer holding the rank of major-general. The position of Deputy Military Secretary is held by an officer holding the rank of brigadier. The Military Secretary's counterpart in the Royal Navy is the Naval Secretary. The Royal Air Force equivalent is the Air Secretary. Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi (; born 29 July 1949) is a Pakistani dentist and politician currently serving as the 13th President of Pakistan, in office since 9 September 2018. Mamnoon Hussain ( ur, ; 22 December 1941 – 14 July 2021) was a Pakistani politician and industrialist who served as the 12th president of Pakistan from 2013 to 2018.
