Miling
Miling is a small town in the Shire of Moora, north of Perth, Western Australia. At the , it had a population of 101. Miling is the terminus of the Clackline–Miling railway branch line 150 miles from Perth. This branch line originally started at Clackline, but after the changes to the Eastern Railway in 1966 commenced at West Toodyay. Miling is within the network known as the "wheatbins", which are areas served by the Wheatbelt railway lines of Western Australia. In 1932, the Wheat Pool of Western Australia announced that the town would have two grain elevators, each fitted with an engine, installed at the railway siding. The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. Clackline–Miling Railway
The Clackline to Miling railway branch, originally known as the Clackline to Newcastle railway line, is a railway line in Western Australia. The line developed progressively over the years and as it did so, various sections were named differently. Each section of the line needed separate lobbying and discussion in the Western Australian Parliament to get enabling acts. The final section was approved in 1920 and completed in 1925. After completion it became known as the Miling branch, following final expansion north to Miling, and the closing of the Clackline to Newcastle (Toodyay) section. History CBH was formed on 5 April 1933, at a time when a royal commission on bulk handling of grain was in progress, and after over 20 years of failed proposals for bulk handling of grain in Western Australia. The trustees of the Wheat Board of Western Australia and Wesfarmers registered the company together with capital of £100,000 divided evenly into 100,000 shares. The cooperative was formed under the principle of one person, one vote, regardless of the amount of grain supplied. CBH merged with the Grain Pool of WA in November 2002, after the Parliament of Western Australia passed legislation allowing the merger to go ahead. CBH grain receival points (also known as ''the bins'' or ''wheat bins'' in local popular usage) are grain silos spread around Western Australia, primarily in the wheatbelt region. Historically they have been linked with the wheatbelt railway lines, and the transport of grain to ports for export. The Division of Durack is an Australian Electoral Division in the state of Western Australia. History The Division is named after the pioneering Durack family, upon whom Dame Mary Durack based her popular historical novels. The wheatbelt railway lines of Western Australia were, in most cases, a network of railway lines in Western Australia that primarily served the Wheatbelt region. Maps of the Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) system in the 1930s show that in the main wheatbelt region, any railway line was within of the harvest location, facilitating ease of access to rail transport. Most of the larger extent of the network has since been closed.
