Milestones (British Band)
Milestones were a British pop rock band from Manchester, England, formed in 2014. The band consisted of vocalist Matt Clarke, guitarist and vocalist Andrew Procter, bassist Mark Threlfall, and guitarist Eden Leviston. History They released their debut EP, ''Equal Measures, ''independently on 6 April 2015. The band signed to Fearless Records in June 2016 and re-released their EP ''Equal Measures'' on 8 July 2016. Frontman Matt Clarke was only 17 years old when the band signed to Fearless Records in June 2016. On 26 January 2018, the band released the lead single, "Paranoid" from their upcoming debut album titled '' Red Lights''. The album was released on 23 February 2018. On 29 October 2018, Milestones announced their separation via their official Twitter page, citing pursuit of new dreams and taking a break as their reasons for the breakup. The Milestones
The Milestones () were a Pakistani pop rock band that formed in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, in 1990. The group was formed by lead guitarist, Ziyyad Gulzar and bassist, Ali Tim, who were soon joined by female lead vocalist, Candy Pereira. The Milestones were one of the pioneer bands of the local pop music scene, quite a few of which even did well at the local music charts. Since its inception, the band only released two studio albums with performing innumerable concerts and gigs, receiving worldwide acclaim. The band achieved mainstream success with their debut album, '' Jadoo'', released in 1993. The album included famous singles like "Baat", "Jan-e-Jaan", "Jeevan" and "Mein". The success of the band's debut album led them to travel internationally to US, Canada and Cyprus quite a few times, whereas to promote their album they also toured throughout Pakistan. ''Milestones'' is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Miles Davis. It was recorded with his "first great quintet" augmented as a sextet and released in 1958 by Columbia Records. Composition Tenor saxophonist John Coltrane's return to Davis' group in 1958 coincided with the "modal phase" albums: ''Milestones'' and ''Kind of Blue'' (1959) are both considered essential examples of 1950s modern jazz. Davis at this point was experimenting with modes – scale patterns other than major and minor. Davis plays both trumpet and piano on "Sid's Ahead", a blues which is reminiscent of "Walkin'". He plays trumpet in the ensemble passages and solos on trumpet but moves to the piano to accompany the saxophonists in Garland's absence. "Billy Boy" is a solo feature for Garland and the rhythm section. ''Maʿālim fī aṭ Ṭarīq'', also ''Ma'alim fi'l-tareeq'', ( ar, معالم في الطريق, ma‘ālim fī t-tarīq) or ''Milestones'', first published in 1964, is a short book written by the influential Egyptian Islamist author Sayyid Qutb, in which he makes a call to action and lays out a plan to re-create the "extinct" Muslim world on (what he believes to be) strictly Quranic grounds, casting off what he calls ''Jahiliyyah'' (pre-Islamic ignorance). ''Ma'alim fi al-Tariq'' has been called "one of the most influential works in Arabic of the last half century". ''Milestones'' (or ''Milestones to the Kingdom'') is a non-commercial, Bible magazine published annually by the Christadelphians. The magazine's focus is Bible prophecy, and its intention (according to the magazine's website) is to review the 'events of the past year in the light of Bible prophecy'. The 2007 edition (''Milestones to the Kingdom 2006: A Review of the World Events of 2006 in the Light of Bible Prophecy'') is the 30th issue. ''Milestones Updates'' also appear quarterly in another Christadelphian publication, The Bible Magazine', and ''Milestones Snippets'' (an email list covering current affairs articles 'of interest to students of Bible prophecy') is available approximately twice a week. "Milestones" is a jazz composition written by Miles Davis. It appears on the album of the same name in 1958. It has since become a jazz standard. "Milestones" is the first example of Miles composing in a modal style and experimentation in this piece led to the writing of " So What" from the 1959 album '' Kind of Blue''. The song's modes consist of G Dorian for 16 bars, A Aeolian for another 16 bars, and then back to G Dorian for the last eight bars, then the progression repeats. Originally titled "Miles" on the initial album pressings, people soon began referring to the piece as "Milestones" rather than "Miles". On later editions of the album the title was changed. Milestone
A milestone is a numbered marker placed on a route such as a road, railway line, canal or boundary. They can indicate the distance to towns, cities, and other places or landmarks; or they can give their position on the route relative to some datum location. On roads they are typically located at the side or in a median or central reservation. They are alternatively known as mile markers, mileposts or mile posts (sometimes abbreviated MPs). A "kilometric point" is a term used in metricated areas, where distances are commonly measured in kilometres instead of miles. "Distance marker" is a generic unit-agnostic term. Milestones are installed to provide linear referencing points along the road. Milestones, also referred as The Milestones (per the Eurovision official web site), were an Austrian rock band, active between 1968 and 1975. They are known for their participation in the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest. 1968-1972 The band's original line up was Beatrix Neundlinger, Günter Grosslercher, Robert Unterweger and Rudi Tinsobin. Their first self-titled album was released in 1970. In 1972, Unterweger and Tinsobin left the band and were replaced by Norbert Niedermeyer and Christian Kolonovits. Eurovision Song Contest In 1972, Milestones were selected internally by broadcaster ORF as the Austrian representatives for the 17th Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Falter im Wind" ("Butterfly In the Wind"), which was a very contemporary and atypical song for Eurovision at the time.
