''Milady and the Musketeers'' (Italian: ''Il boia di Lilla'', also known as ''Vengeance of the Musketeers'' and ''La vita avventurosa di Milady'') is 1952 French-Italian historical adventure film directed by Vittorio Cottafavi and starring Rossano Brazzi, Yvette Lebon and Armando Francioli. It is based on the 1844 novel ''The Three Musketeers'' by Alexandre Dumas, and was a popular success.Moliterno p.94 The film's sets were designed by the art director Giancarlo Bartolini Salimbeni. Renato De Carmine (25 January 1923 – 18 July 2010) was an Italian stage, film and television actor. After graduating at the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico, De Carmine worked mainly on stage, notably at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan under the direction of Giorgio Strehler. Vittorio Sanipoli (1915–1992) was an Italian stage, film and television actor. He appeared in around a hundred films and television series between 1942 and 1980. Life and career Born Luciano Sanipoli in Genoa, he made his acting debut in 1939 in the Roman Calò's stage company Society of Mystery Shows. Enzo Fiermonte (17 July 1908 – 22 March 1993), sometimes credited as William Bird, was an Italian actor and boxer. Early life Vincenzo "Enzo" Fiermonte was born on 17 July 1908 in Casamassima, a rural village near Bari, in southern Italy to Donato and Lucrezia Fiermonte. Career From 1925 to 1934, he was a professional boxer, with a lifetime record of 47 wins (11 by knockout), 17 losses (10 by knockout), and 2 draws. On June 22, 1943, he announced his permanent retirement from boxing.
