Miklós Lukáts
Miklós Péter Lukáts (27 March 1946 – 30 October 2022) was a Hungarian Lutheran minister and politician who served in the National Assembly of Hungary from 1990 until 1994. A founding member of the Christian Democratic People's Party, Lukáts was a key figure in the end of communism in Hungary and oversaw the transition in Hungarian religious policy in his position as State Secretary for Church Affairs. Biography Miklós Lukáts was born on 27 March 1946 in the city of Szombathely, Hungary. Lukáts's father died when he was young, and he was primarily raised by his grandfather, a former judge who remained politically active. Lukáts and his grandfather would frequently talk about politics, and Lukáts credited this for his interest in politics. National Assembly (Hungary)
The National Assembly ( hu, Országgyűlés, lit=Country Assembly) is the parliament of Hungary. The unicameral body consists of 199 (386 between 1990 and 2014) members elected to 4-year terms. Election of members is done using a semi-proportional representation: a mixed-member majoritarian representation with partial compensation via transfer votes and mixed single vote; involving single-member districts and one list vote; parties must win at least 5% of the popular vote in order to gain list seats assembly. The Assembly includes 25 standing committees to debate and report on introduced bills and to supervise the activities of the ministers. Hungarian Revolution Of 1848
The Hungarian Revolution of 1848 or fully Hungarian Civic Revolution and War of Independence of 1848–1849 () was one of many European Revolutions of 1848 and was closely linked to other revolutions of 1848 in the Habsburg areas. Although the revolution failed, it is one of the most significant events in Hungary's modern history, forming the cornerstone of modern Hungarian national identity. In April 1848, Hungary became the third country of Continental Europe (after France (1791), and Belgium (1831)) to enact law about democratic parliamentary elections. Medveczky
The Medveczky family was a Hungarian aristocratic family living mostly in Upper Hungary (present day Slovakia) and Hungary. It was mentioned in the thirteenth century (about 1280–1290), when the family was given the title of squire. In 1355, King Louis the Great gave Ladislav and Urban Medveczky a noble title. They were also given a forest land of area 10 ''poplužie'', situated by the Medveczky brook in Orava. In 1370, their brother Opilius was also elevated into a nobleman. The Medveczky Family was an owner of the area of Maly Bysterec that is nowadays a part of Dolný Kubín ( hu, Alsókubin). Maly Bysterec was originally settled as a squiral settlement that was separated from Orava Castle estate. In 1355, this land was given to Jakub and Miko defined as an area of 10 units ''poplužie'' by the Bysterec brook, which rises in Kubinska Hola. Origo (stylised as ORIGO, previously as rigo'') is a major Hungarian-language news website founded in 1998 by telecommunications company MATÁV. In 2018, Origo was the third most visited Hungarian website. Since 2015, Origo has been regularly criticised by the left for its uncritical support of the Fidesz political party. János Áder
János Áder (; born 9 May 1959) is a Hungarian politician and lawyer who served as President of Hungary from 2012 to 2022. He is a long-time politician of the right-wing Fidesz. As a representative of his party, he took part in the Hungarian Round Table Talks during the end of communism in Hungary in 1989. Hungarian Order Of Merit
The Hungarian Order of Merit ( hu, Magyar Érdemrend) is the fourth highest State Order of Hungary. Founded in 1991, the order is a revival of an original order founded in 1946 and abolished in 1949. Its origins, however, can be traced to the Order of Merit of the Kingdom of Hungary which existed from 1922 until 1946. In 2011 its official name changed from Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary to Hungarian Order of Merit in accordance with the new Hungarian Constitution. It is awarded in either civilian or military divisions. Since 2011, the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen is the highest State honour of Hungary.
