Mikkira
Mikkira Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station in South Australia. It is situated approximately south west of Port Lincoln and south east of Coffin Bay on the Eyre Peninsula. The property is composed of grassy plains well watered by Sleaford Mere, Fishery Creek and other permanent springs along with numerous wells. The traditional owners of the area are the Barngalla, Nauo and Battara peoples, who inhabited the Eyre peninsula for thousands of years and often camped at the permanent Mikkira waterhole while travelling along the coastline. Settled in 1842, Mikkira was one of the first properties settled on the lower Eyre Peninsula. The station was placed on the market in 1863; it had some improvements and was stocked with 9,700 sheep. Sleaford Mere
Sleaford Mere (alternative name: Kuyabidni) is a permanent saline lake, located on the Jussieu Peninsula on the south eastern tip of Eyre Peninsula in South Australia about south west of Port Lincoln. The lake was given its modern name by the British explorer, Matthew Flinders, on 26 February 1802. Since 1969, the lake has been part of the Sleaford Mere Conservation Park and since 2005, it has been listed as a nationally important wetland. William James Browne
William James Browne, (1815 – 4 December 1894), generally referred to as Dr. Browne, was a grazier and pastoralist in South Australia who was born and died in England. His brother, John Harris Browne, was a noted explorer and pastoralist in the same colony. Origins William Browne was born in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England, the son of Benjamin Browne, a country gentleman who died in 1821, and his wife Anna, ''née'' Cotell. His brother, J. Harris Browne (22 April 1817 – 12 January 1904) and sister Anna (1812-1873) arrived in South Australia on the ''Orleanna'' in 1840.
