Mikhail Abramovich Popov
Mikhail Abramovich Popov (russian: Михаил Абрамович Попов) (1753, Kungur – September 8, 1811) was a Russian businessman and politician, merchant of the second guild and the first mayor of Perm. Mikhail Abramovich Popov was born in 1753, in the family of Abram Popov (1724—?), a merchant from Cherdyn, and his wife Praskovya Ivanovna Vereshchagina. He had a brother named Pyotr and a sister named Dominica. In 1764 his father moved to Kungur. When in 1781 Perm vice-gerency was founded, Popov moved to Perm and was elected mayor of Perm. He obtained 29 votes while his rival Fyodor Yefimovich Bykov had only 14. He held the office of mayor two times, from October 18, 1781, till October 18, 1784, and from 1793 till 1796. Mikhail Ivanovich Popov (russian: Михаи́л Ива́нович Попов) (1742, Yaroslavl – circa 1790) was a Russian writer, poet, dramatist and opera librettist of the 18th century. Biography Born into a merchant family, he was a pupil of Fyodor Volkov. After 1757 he was an actor at the Court Theatre in St Petersburg. He entered Moscow University in 1765, and began to translate comedies from German language, German and French language, French. He wrote a collection of lyrics called “Songs” (1765). Mikhail Popov is a paralympic athlete from Russia competing mainly in category T38 sprint events. Mikhail competed in the 2000 Summer Paralympics where he won silver medals in both the 100m and 200m finishing behind Australia's Timothy Sullivan on both occasions. Major General Mikhail Dmitrov Popov ( bg, Михаил Димитров Попов; born 23 December 1963) is a Bulgarian Major general and military leader who is the current Commander of the Bulgarian Land Forces since 2017. He was born in Sliven, in the south-eastern part of the Bulgarian People's Republic on 23 December 1963. He graduated from Dobri Chintulov High School in 1981 from which he joined the Bulgarian People's Army (BNA) shortly thereafter. In the 4 years that followed, he studied at the Vasil Levski Military All-Army University in Veliko Tarnovo specializing in Intelligence assessment before graduating in 1985.
