Mikhail Borisovich Gavrilov
Mikhail Gavrilov (russian: Гаврилов Михаил Борисович, translit=; he, מיכאיל גברילוב; born 29 December 1926 – 18 July 2014) was a Soviet writer and poet of Mountain Jews, Mountain Jew descent. He wrote in Judeo-Tat and Russian. Mikhail Gavrilov held the title of Honored Worker of Culture of Dagestan. Biography Gavrilov was born in the city Derbent, Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Dagestan ASSR, Soviet Union, USSR. His father Boris Gavrilovich Gavrilov, Boris Gavrilov (1908–1990) was a poet and dramatist. Since the beginning of the Eastern Front (World War II), World War II, Gavrilov worked as a locksmith's apprentice, a 4-grade locksmith, then a 4-grade turner at the Derbent cannery. Judeo-Tat Poets
Judeo-Tat or Juhuri (''cuhuri'', , ) is the traditional language of the Mountain Jews of the eastern Caucasus Mountains, especially Azerbaijan and Dagestan, now mainly spoken in Israel. The language is a dialect of Persian which belongs to the southwestern group of the Iranian division of the Indo-European languages, albeit with heavy Jewish influence. The Iranic Tat language is spoken by the Muslim Tats of Azerbaijan, a group to which the Mountain Jews were mistakenly considered to belong during the era of Soviet historiography though the languages probably originated in the same region of the Persian empire. The words ''Juvuri'' and ''Juvuro'' translate as "Jewish" and "Jews". Judeo-Tat has Semitic (Hebrew/Aramaic/Arabic) elements on all linguistic levels.
