Mike White (baseball)
Joyner Michael White (born December 18, 1938) is an American former professional baseball player. Primarily an outfielder, White appeared in Major League Baseball for all or parts of three seasons (1963–65) for the Houston Colt .45s / Astros. He is the son of the late Jo-Jo White, a former MLB outfielder and coach. Mike White threw and batted right-handed, stood tall and weighed . White attended American River Junior College, Sacramento, California, and signed with the Cleveland Indians in 1958; his father was a Cleveland scout and coach that season. But White suffered a serious knee injury in a 1958 intrasquad game and his career was nearly ended before it began. Despite constant therapy, he ran with a pronounced limp. White was able to play 126 minor league games in 1959 and 127 more in 1960. During the latter season, he batted .304 with 132 hits for the Reading Indians of the Class A Eastern League. Michael Simon White (16 January 1936 – 7 March 2016) was a British theatrical impresario and film producer. White was responsible for 101 stage productions and 27 films over 50 years. Early life Michael White was born in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Victor White, a merchant who ran a glove making business, and Doris (née Cohen), a property developer. His parents were from Eastern European Jewish backgrounds. As White suffered from asthma as a boy, his parents decided he would be educated as a boarder at the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz in Switzerland from age 7, where he was the only boy who did not speak the French language. He then graduated from the Sorbonne in Paris. Mike White is a New Zealand-born American softball coach who is the current head coach at Texas. Early life A native of New Zealand's capital of Wellington, White grew up playing multiple sports, most notably soccer and softball. In a 2023 interview, White told ESPN writer Dave Wilson that he had hopes of making the national soccer team, but a planned training trip to Fiji and New Caledonia was scuttled due to civil unrest in Fiji. He had been a star pitcher in New Zealand, a hotbed for men's fast-pitch softball, and around the time his soccer trip was canceled, he received a call from the U.S. inviting him to play softball there. At the time, men's fast-pitch had a noticeably higher profile in the U.S. than it does today. William Michael Eastwood White, CBE (22 May 1913 – 15 February 2003) was an English cricketer active from 1937 to 1949 who played for Northamptonshire (Northants). He was born in Barnes, Surrey on 22 May 1913 and died in Guernsey on 15 February 2003. From 1924 to 1932, White was educated at Dover County School for Boys (now Dover Grammar School for Boys), then from 1933 to 1937 at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. During the 1930s, in addition to his cricket interests White also played rugby for Dover town. White appeared in 21 first-class matches as a righthanded batsman who bowled right arm medium fast. Michael White (born 5 July 1991) is a Welsh professional snooker player from Neath, Glamorgan. Nicknamed ‘Lightning’ due to his fast playing style, White is a former top 16 player and two-time ranking event winner. A highly rated junior, he became the youngest player to have made a century break in competitive play aged 9, and won the World Amateur Championship at 14. White won his first ranking event at the 2015 Indian Open, before breaking into the top 16 during the 2015-16 season and capturing his second ranking title at the 2017 Paul Hunter Classic. Michael White (born 8 January 1987) is a Welsh-born New Zealand footballer, currently playing for ASB Premiership side Canterbury United FC. Career White started his football with Richmond Athletic and played for Canterbury United during the 2005-06 NZFC season, he can play in various midfield and attacking roles.
