Mike Stone (musician)
Mike Stone (born November 30, 1969) is an American heavy metal guitarist, best known for his involvement in the progressive metal band QueensrĂżche. He joined QueensrĂżche for their 2003 Tribe tour, and made his first appearance on the 2003 album ''Tribe'', with writing credits for the song "Losing Myself". Stone was the guitarist for the rock band Speed-X, and currently the guitarist and backup vocalist of the alternative punk rock band, The Stick People. Biography In December 1992, Stone joined Criss, the solo project of former KISS drummer Peter Criss. The group toured extensively and released one album, '' Cat #1'', in August 1994. Stone left the group in December 1995. Stone also joined Jonas Hansson Band in 1994 for one album called (No.1). In 2008, Peavey introduced a signature Mike Stone guitar at the Winter NAMM Show. Progressive Metal
Progressive metal (sometimes shortened to prog metal) is a broad :Fusion music genres, fusion music genre melding heavy metal music, heavy metal and progressive rock, combining the loud "aggression" and amplified electric guitar, guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter. Take Cover (album)
''Take Cover'' is the tenth studio album by Seattle-based progressive metal band Queensrÿche, released on November 13, 2007. It consists of cover versions. The idea to release an album of cover songs came from a game of "name the riff" guitarists Michael Wilton and Mike Stone would play during sound checks. The band members agreed to each choose two songs to record for the album. Its release was announced by the band on August 28, 2007. After its first week of release the album entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at No. 173, with sales of 5,500 copies. Their cover of Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine" was released as the album's only single. ''Take Cover'' was the last album to feature Mike Stone for fifteen years. ''Mindcrime at the Moore'' is a live album and DVD by United States, American progressive metal band QueensrĂżche, that was released on July 3, 2007. The album and DVD were announced in an April 4 press release on the band's website. The album/DVD was recorded live during QueensrĂżche's three night stint at Moore Theatre, The Moore Theatre in Seattle in October 2006, on the band's tour in support of ''Operation: Mindcrime II''. The group performed that album and 1988's ''Operation: Mindcrime'' in their entirety, supported by a cast of actors and by the Seattle Seahawks Drumline. Also included on the DVD is a tour documentary, a piece on the band's "Rock & Ride Across America" charity motorcycle ride for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, and a live performance of "The Chase" from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, featuring Ronnie James Dio's only public appearance as Dr. X. ''Operation: Mindcrime'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band QueensrĂżche. Originally released on May 3, 1988, the album was reissued on May 6, 2003, with two bonus tracks, and again in 2006 as a deluxe box set. ''Operation: Mindcrime'' is a concept album and a rock opera. Its story follows Nikki, a drug addict who becomes disillusioned with the corrupt society of his time and reluctantly becomes involved with a revolutionary group as an assassin of political leaders. In January 1989, it ranked at No. 34 on ''Kerrang!'' magazine's "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time". The Art Of Live
''The Art of Live'' is both a live album and DVD by American progressive metal band Queensrÿche. Both the DVD and CD were recorded during the group's 2003 co-headlining tour (with Dream Theater) in support of ''Tribe''. The track listing for both releases is nearly identical, although the DVD omits "Anybody Listening?" and includes two cover versions – "Comfortably Numb" (Pink Floyd) and "Won't Get Fooled Again" (The Who) – performed on stage with Dream Theater. The DVD footage is shot entirely in sepia, which disappointed some fans and reviewers. The album is not generally indicative of the band's setlist from this period, and is instead a compilation which largely highlights recent or acoustic material played on the 2003 tour. Dito Godwin (1955–2021) was an American record producer and executive, best known for his production works with Mötley Crüe, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley of Kiss, Great White, and more recently No Doubt, Kevin Carlberg, The Stick People and Kristy Lee Cook of ''American Idol''. Biography Godwin started his career in New York as a musician touring with names like Black Sabbath before turning to the administrative and production roles he has worked in for over 25 years in the industry. Biography Originally called MK Ultra, doubleDrive arrived on the music scene in their hometown of Atlanta in late 1996. After winning the award for Atlanta's "favorite metal/extreme" band in 1998, doubleDrive signed a record deal with MCA Records and subsequently released their first studio album, '' 1000 Yard Stare'', in the U.S. in August 1999.
