Mike Rhoades
Michael David Rhoades (born September 21, 1972) is an American basketball coach. He is the head men's basketball coach at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a position he has held since 2017. Rhoades served as the head men's basketball coach at Randolph–Macon College from 1999 to 2009 and Rice University from 2014 to 2017. Biography Playing career Rhoades played college basketball at Lebanon Valley College and led the team to the 1994 Division III national championship. A shooting guard, he still holds the records for assists, steals, and free-throw percentage. He also graduated as the college's all-time leading scorer. Rhoades was an All-American twice, the 1995 Division III national player of the year, and his #5 jersey is retired at LVC. Pat Flannery
Pat Flannery (born September 23, 1957) is an American former college basketball coach. He served as the head men's basketball at Lebanon Valley College from 1989 to 1994 and Bucknell University from 1994 to 2008. Flannery was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and attended Pottsville Area High School, graduating in 1976. He played college basketball at Bucknell as a point guard, leading the Bison to several league championships before graduating in 1980. Flannery led his team, a 14-seed, to a first-round victory in the 2005 NCAA Division I tournament over Kansas. Bucknell's victory was the first NCAA Tournament win ever for any Patriot League team. In the 2006 regular season the Bison went undefeated in Patriot League play. In the 2006 NCAA tournament, the Bison beat Arkansas in the first round for their second consecutive first-round victory. 2017–18 VCU Rams Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 VCU Rams men's basketball team represented Virginia Commonwealth University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rams were led by Mike Rhoades in his first season as head coach at VCU. The Rams played their home games at Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 10, 2017. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season ended with the Final Four in San Antonio on April 2, 2018. Practices officially began on September 29, 2017. 2017 College Basketball Invitational
The 2017 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) was a single-elimination tournament of 16 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not participate on the 2017 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament or the NIT. The opening games were held on March 15 and the quarterfinals were held on March 20 on campus sites. After the quarterfinals, the brackets were reseeded for the semi-finals which was held on March 22. A best of three championship series closed out the tournament on March 27, 29, and 31. 2016–17 Rice Owls Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Rice Owls men's basketball team represented Rice University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Owls, led by third-year head coach Mike Rhoades, played their home games at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas as members of Conference USA. They finished the season 23–12, 11–7 in C-USA play to finish in fifth place. They defeated Southern Miss in the first round of the C-USA tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to UTEP. The 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 11, 2016. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic, and ended with the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona on April 3, 2017. Conference USA
Conference USA (C-USA or CUSA) is an intercollegiate athletic conference whose current member institutions are located within the Southern United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I in all sports. C-USA's offices are located in Dallas, Texas. History C-USA was founded in 1995 by the merger of the Metro Conference and Great Midwest Conference, two Division I conferences that did not sponsor football. However, the merger did not include either Great Midwest member Dayton or Metro members VCU and Virginia Tech.
