Michael O'Sullivan (politician)
Michael O'Sullivan (May 4, 1784 – March 7, 1839) was a lawyer, militia officer, politician and judge in Lower Canada. Born in Clonmel, Ireland, he emigrated to Lower Canada as a child and was educated at the Collège Saint-Raphaël, where he began a life-long association with the Roman Catholic Sulpician order. He became a prominent member of the bar of Lower Canada, as well as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada and Solicitor-general for Lower Canada. O'Sullivan was an officer in the Lower Canada militia during the War of 1812. He participated in the Battle of the Châteauguay as aide-de-camp to Lieutenant-Colonel Charles de Salaberry, the commander of the Canadian and Mohawk forces who were defending Lower Canada from an invading American force. O'Sullivan was mentioned in dispatches for bravery after the battle, and subsequently wrote a contemporary account of the battle which has become the basis for understanding the battle. Sir Michael Neil O'Sullivan KBE (2 August 1900 – 4 July 1968) was an Australian politician and lawyer. He served as a Senator for Queensland from 1947 to 1962, representing the Liberal Party. He held senior ministerial positions in the post-war Menzies Government, serving as Minister for Trade and Customs (1949–56), Minister for the Navy (1956), and Attorney-General (1956–58). Early life O'Sullivan was born on 2 August 1900 in Toowong, Queensland. He was the fifth child born to Patrick Alban O'Sullivan and his wife Mary Bridget (née Macgroarty), both of Irish Catholic descent. His uncles Thomas O'Sullivan and Neil MacGroarty served in the Queensland Legislative Assembly, as did his paternal grandfather Patrick O'Sullivan. Mickey O'Sullivan
Mickey "Ned" O'Sullivan (born 14 April 1952) is an Irish former Gaelic football manager, selector and former player. His league and championship career at senior level with the Kerry county team spanned ten seasons from 1971 to 1980. Born in Kenmare, County Kerry, O'Sullivan was educated at Coláiste Íosagáin in Ballyvourney where he played Gaelic football. He later played with University College Dublin during his studies there. By this stage O'Sullivan had also joined the Kenmare club team, with whom he won three county intermediate championship medals. He also lined out with the Kenmare District divisional side, and won two county senior championship medals. Michael O'Sullivan (born 1959) is an Irish poet. Educated at University College Cork (UCC), he graduated with an honours master's degree in 1989. His first book collection was ''The Physics Of Parting'' in 1993, with an introduction by John Montague. Many of his books are listed in the National Library of Ireland Catalogue and have been published by Lapwing Publications, Belfast, Northern Ireland. His poems, short stories and reviews have appeared in distinguished anthologies and journals in Ireland, Great Britain and America. Michael O'Sullivan (footballer)
Michael O'Sullivan (born 5 April 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Melbourne and Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). O'Sullivan, a left-footer, was originally from Seymour and went to Assumption College. He was a member of Melbourne's Under 19s premiership winning team in 1981. He had a strong first season with Melbourne, in 1982, when he played in all 22 rounds and amassed 314 kicks, the second most at the club behind Adrian Battiston, the only other player not to miss a game that year. In the opening round of the 1983 season, against Collingwood, O'Sullivan badly injured his shoulder. A staple that had been inserted into his shoulder during his Under 19s career had broken and as a result he missed the rest of the season. Michael O'Sullivan (born 16 November 1973) is a former English cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman, left-arm fast medium and slow left-arm orthodox bowler who played for Berkshire. He was born in Reading. Career O'Sullivan, made his Second XI Championship debut for Gloucestershire in 1994, and his Berkshire debut in the 1990 Minor Counties Championship. He has also played Second XI representative cricket for Sussex and Hampshire. O'Sullivan did not bat in his debut, but took figures of 1-12 with the ball. Michael O'Sullivan (hurler)
Michael O'Sullivan (born 15 August 1990) is an Irish hurler who played as a full-forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Minane Bridge, County Cork, O'Sullivan first played competitive hurling in his younger days and at school. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of nineteen when he first linked up with the Cork under-21 team, before later lining out with the intermediate side. He joined the senior panel for the 2012 National Hurling League. O'Sullivan currently plays in the United States.
