Mike Nicolette
Michael Rexford Nicolette (born December 7, 1956) is an American professional golfer and inventor who played on the PGA Tour in the 1970s and 1980s. Nicolette was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and was a member of the golf team. While a student at Rollins, he won the 1976 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship. He turned pro in 1978. Nicolette had ten top-10 finishes in PGA Tour events during his career including a win at the 1983 Bay Hill Classic. In that tournament, he defeated Greg Norman in a playoff on the first extra hole. He was the first round co-leader at the 1988 U.S. Open, but faded in the last three days. His best finish in a major championship was T-13 at the 1983 U.S. Open. Arizona Open
The Arizona Open Championship is the annual open state championship of golf in Arizona. The competition is 54-holes of stroke play (3 rounds on an 18-hole course), with the winner being the player with the lowest total number of strokes. Following 36-holes of play the field is cut to the top 50 players and ties for the final round. In the event of a tie following 54-holes, a hole-by-hole, sudden death playoff will determine the winner. 1985 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the 1985 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. Fifty players earned their 1986 PGA Tour card through Q-School in 1985. The tournament was played over 108 holes at the Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort, West and South courses, in Haines City, Florida. The top 50 players split the $100,000 purse, with the winner earning $15,000. Peter McWhinney lost a six-for-five playoff for the last cards. Burmese golfer Kyi Hla Han was trying to become the second Burmese, after Mya Aye, to make it onto the PGA Tour. However, he was unable to move onto the finals, playing poorly in the final round of his regional qualifying tournament in California. Spring 1979 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the Spring 1979 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. The event was held at Pinehurst No. 6, a new course at the Pinehurst Resort. The course opened in March and the event was held three months later. There were 150 players in the finals. Top 25 players and anyone tied for 25th place would graduate onto the PGA Tour. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf.
