Mike Moya
Mike Moya (born December 1, 1969) is a Canadian rock musician, who is one of the founding members of post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor. He left the band in 1998 to concentrate on his other bands Molasses, Set Fire to Flames and HṚṢṬA., but rejoined the band during their reunion in 2010. He was part of the live band of labelmate Elizabeth Anka Vajagic. He lives between Berlin and Montreal with his partner Maria Hinze and their family. Godspeed You! Black Emperor Together with Efrim Menuck and Mauro Pezzente, Moya formed Godspeed You! Black Emperor in the early 1990s. He contributed guitar to the band's 1997 debut album F♯A♯∞ and their follow-up EP Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada, but left the group in 1998, before the EP was released. Additionally, his vocals can be heard in the opening moments of the song "Antennas to Heaven," from the group's 2000 release Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). It uses one or more pickups to convert the vibration of its strings into electrical signals, which ultimately are reproduced as sound by loudspeakers. The sound is sometimes shaped or electronically altered to achieve different timbres or tonal qualities on the amplifier settings or the knobs on the guitar from that of an acoustic guitar. Efrim Menuck
Efrim Manuel Menuck (; born November 4, 1970) is a Canadian musician involved with a number of Montreal-based bands, most notably Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra. Menuck is also a frequent record producer and engineer, working with musicians from Montreal and abroad. Biography Menuck was born in Montreal but grew up primarily in Toronto. He moved back to Montreal when he was in his early 20s. His father was a doctor and his mother was a nurse. He attended Hebrew day school from first to ninth grade. After dropping out of high school in 11th grade, Menuck was homeless and jobless and had a nervous breakdown at age 20. Menuck has mentioned that as a teenager he once lived in a flooded basement with "two other lost kids" and "a litter of feral kittens, and that all were unfed". Sings Reign Rebuilder
''Sings Reign Rebuilder'' is the debut album of the Canadian band Set Fire to Flames. It was released by Alien8 Recordings, FatCat Records in 2001. The album was recorded in a century old house (either named or later dubbed 15 Ontario) apparently bound for destruction. From the liner notes: "your bulldozers and wrecking ball can make match-sticks out of the rickety staircase and crookt/creaking floorboards---but they can't erase the recording that was made here." As such, several sounds usually edited out of the recording process, including creaking floors, paper shuffling and outside noises, were left intact on the final album. The most notable occurrence is that of a police car driving by with its siren blaring at the end of "Love Song for 15 Ontario"; the vehicle was later credited as a guest performer on the song. ''G_d's Pee at State's End!'' (stylised as ''G_d's Pee AT STATE'S END!'') is the seventh studio album by Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, released on 2 April 2021 by Constellation Records. Background In August 2019, the band played two new songs, "Glacier" and "Cliff", as a part of their live sets for the first time. According to a statement by the band, the material for the album was recorded in October 2020. ''Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, released on 31 March 2015 by Constellation Records. The album was recorded with Electrical Audio engineer Greg Norman in North Carolina and Montreal, and was the first to feature completely new material since the band's reformation in 2010. It is also, with the exception of the vinyl version of ''F♯ A♯ ∞'' (ignoring the locked groove), the group's shortest album to date, timing in at just forty minutes. ''Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!'' (sometimes stylized in ''all caps'') is the fourth studio album by Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, released by Constellation Records. It was first released on August 14, 1997 through Constellation Records on a single LP and on June 8, 1998 through Kranky on CD. The CD version and the LP version have substantial differences between them. Recorded at the Hotel2Tango in the Mile End of Montreal, the album, as became common for the band, is devoid of traditional lyrics and is mostly instrumental, featuring lengthy songs segmented into movements. It was released on the Montreal-based record label Constellation Records in 1999, and was re-released by Kranky. Packaging The EP's packaging makes only sparing reference to either the band or the EP's title: the outer packaging does not make any reference to Godspeed, but mentions them in the liner notes; the EP's title is only shown on the spine of the CD pressing. The song titles are not listed anywhere on the cover. The cardboard album case is unusual in that it opens in the opposite direction of a conventional CD case; this is due to the Hebrew text being read from right to left.
