Mike MacWilliam
Mike MacWilliam (born February 14, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger who played in several leagues throughout his career including the WHL, AHL, IHL, and NHL. He grew up playing minor hockey in Burnaby. Winger (hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary Minor league#Ice hockey, developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Adirondack Red Wings
The Adirondack Red Wings were a minor professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They played in Glens Falls, New York, United States at the Glens Falls Civic Center. The team was affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. Flint Spirits
The Flint Spirits were a professional hockey team in Flint, Michigan from 1985 to 1990, and played their home games at the IMA Sports Arena. They were a part of the International Hockey League and replaced the recently departed Flint Generals team. They compiled an overall record of 162–220–28. Prior to the 1990–91 season, the original Fort Wayne Komets were moved to Albany, New York, and a group from Fort Wayne, Indiana, purchased the Spirits and relocated them to Fort Wayne in time to begin the season. International Hockey League (1945–2001)
The International Hockey League (IHL) was a minor professional ice hockey league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1945 to 2001. Milwaukee Admirals
The Milwaukee Admirals are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Panther Arena. They are affiliated with the NHL's Nashville Predators. The team has been playing since 1970, originally as an amateur team called the Milwaukee Wings, but were renamed as the Admirals after their first season. Medicine Hat Tigers
The Medicine Hat Tigers are a junior ice hockey team in the Western Hockey League (WHL) who play in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Established in 1970, the team has won two national Memorial Cups, five WHL League Championships and seven Division Titles, and continues to rally for the Cup annually. Starting in the 2015–16 season, the Tigers have begun play at Co-op Place after forty-five seasons at the Medicine Hat Arena. They had a sell-out streak at The Arena dating back 197 games (as of May 15, 2007). The 1986–87 WHL season was the 21st season for the Western Hockey League. Fourteen teams completed a 72-game season. The Medicine Hat Tigers won the President's Cup before going on to also capture the Memorial Cup. League notes *The Lethbridge Broncos returned to Swift Current, Saskatchewan, to become the Swift Current Broncos. *On December 30, 1986, the Swift Current Broncos bus crash caused the deaths of four members of the Swift Current Broncos: Trent Kresse, Scott Kruger, Chris Mantyka, and Brent Ruff.
