Mike (Some sources have his date of birth as 1909. In the ''Evening Standard'' obituary, Wallis Budge says that Mike started hanging around the museum in 1910. However, in his foreword to the "Mike" pamphlet, Wallis Budge states that the cat appeared in the spring of 1908. – January 1929) was a cat who guarded the gates of the British Museum whose fame was such that ''Time (magazine), Time'' magazine devoted two articles to him on his death. Mike and Ike is a brand of fruit-flavored candies that were first introduced in 1940 by the company Just Born, Inc. The origin of the candy's name remains unknown, but there are many conjectures.
