Mike J. Nichols is a producer, director, writer, and an American film editor originally from Illinois currently living and working in Los Angeles. Early career Mike J. Nichols created a re-cut of George Lucas' ''Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace'' known as ''The Phantom Edit''. According to the re-done scroll, the self-proclaimed "Phantom Editor" stated he had re-edited a standard VHS version of ''The Phantom Menace'' into what he believed was "a much stronger version of the film". He also did an edit of '' Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones'', called "Attack of the Phantom," wherein he did the same, with additional commentary explaining his editing decisions. ''Star Wars Episode I.I: The Phantom Edit'' is a fan edit of the film '' Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace'', removing many elements of the original film. The purpose of the edit, according to creator Mike J. Nichols, was to make a much stronger version of ''The Phantom Menace'' based on the previous execution and philosophies of film storytelling and editing of George Lucas. The HollyShorts Film Festival is an annual Academy Award®-qualifying independent short film festival located in Hollywood, California.
