Mike Hoeffel
Michael "Mike" Hoeffel (born April 9, 1989) is an American-German professional ice hockey winger, who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for Krefeld Pinguine then of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career Hoeffel played collegiately for the Minnesota Golden Gophers men's ice hockey, which competes in the WCHA after playing high school hockey for the Hill-Murray Pioneers of Minnesota. He was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 2nd round (57th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, and made his professional debut with New Jersey AHL affiliate, the Albany Devils. On July 25, 2014, Hoeffel was signed as a free agent to a one-year AHL contract with the Springfield Falcons. In the 2014–15 season, Hoeffel contributed to the Falcons in a checking line role and recorded a professional high 9 goals in 62 games. Krefeld Pinguine
The Krefeld Pinguine (Krefeld Penguins) are an ice hockey team in the DEL2. Their home ice is in Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany at the König Palast. Founded first in 1936 by Willi Münstermann, the pro team became a limited liability company in 1994 and joined the top tier Deutsche Eishockey Liga. 2007 NHL Entry Draft
The 2007 NHL Entry Draft was the 45th NHL Entry Draft. It was hosted at Nationwide Arena in the city of Columbus, Ohio, on June 22, 2007. The draft consisted of seven rounds with rounds two through seven taking place on June 23, 2007. The draft was televised on TSN and RDS, with the first round simulcasted in the United States on Versus and in Europe on NASN. Columbus Blue Jackets' President and General Manager Doug MacLean and the NHL announced the event on March 21, 2006. On March 13, 2007, it was reported that NHL owners had voted in favor of changes to the team ranking system which would begin at the 2007 draft. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey. The WCHA All-Tournament Team is an honor bestowed at the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Western Collegiate Hockey Association conference tournament to the players judged to have performed best during the championship. DEL2 (also known as DEL II) is the second tier ice hockey league in Germany, below the '' Deutsche Eishockey Liga'' (DEL) and ahead of the '' Oberliga''. Founded in 2013 to replace the defunct '' 2nd Bundesliga'', DEL2 is administered by ESBG, under licence from DEB. History The DEL2 league was founded on 2 May 2013 by Eishockeyliga Betriebsgesellschaft mbH. The foundation of the league was controversial as it was preceded by a long standing dispute between the operator of the second division, Eishockeyspielbetriebsgesellschaft mbH (ESBG), and the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB). In 2011, ESBG refused to sign a cooperation agreement between DEB and DEL citing unacceptable conditions.
