Mike Hartley
Michael Edward Hartley (born August 31, 1961) is an American former professional baseball right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1989 to 1995. Signed as an amateur free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1981, Hartley would make his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 10, 1989, and appear in his final big league game on September 24, 1995. In 1994, he pitched in Japan for the Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). From 2005 to 2007, Hartley was a pitching coach for the independent Reno Silver Sox. From 2008 to 2010, he was the head coach for the Heidenheim Heideköpfe a German first league team. Hartley lead the team to become the 2009 German National Champions. In 2010, Heidekoepfe finished 2nd in the Final Four European Championship. In 2011, Hartley became the head coach for the Croatian National Team and won the European Championship Qualifier. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. Reno Silver Sox
The Reno Silver Sox were a minor league baseball team that existed on and off from 1947 to 1992. The team name is derived from the nickname of Nevada, the "Silver State". There was another baseball team known as the Reno Silver Sox who played in the Golden Baseball League. From part of the 1955 season to 1992, they played their home games at Moana Stadium. The 1961 Silver Sox were recognized as one of the 100 greatest minor league teams of all time. The Italian Baseball League (IBL; Italian: ') is a professional baseball league that is governed by FIBS (Italian Baseball & Softball Federation), which has its headquarters in Rome. The IBL is a wood bat league in which both composite and aluminum bats are prohibited; the official ball of the IBL is the ''Wilson 1010 Italy''. Until 2010, the IBL featured a league format that demoted the last place finisher to the minor leagues (Series A2), while the Series A2 champion would be promoted into the IBL.
