Hibbing, Minnesota
Hibbing is a city in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 16,214 at the 2020 census. The city was built on mining the rich iron ore of the Mesabi Iron Range and still relies on that industrial activity today. At the edge of town is the world's largest open-pit iron mine, the Hull–Rust–Mahoning Open Pit Iron Mine. It is the hometown of famous singer Bob Dylan and former Governor of Minnesota Rudy Perpich. The main routes in Hibbing are U.S. Highway 169, State Highway 37, State Highway 73, Howard Street, and 1st Avenue. It is about northwest of Duluth, Minnesota. 2002 Continental Cup Of Curling
The Keg 2002 Continental Cup of Curling was held at the Agridome in Regina, Saskatchewan November 7–10. It was the very first edition of the event. North America defeated their European counterparts 207-193. Despite the fact that all the teams were from Europe, North America's opposition was known as Team World. Later events would name the team "Team Europe" until 2008, when "Team World" was re-adopted after the inclusion of Chinese teams. Tracy Sachtjen (, Zeman, born February 20, 1969) is an American curler from Lodi, Wisconsin. She is a former world champion and Olympian. Curling career Sachtjen started curling in 1982. Craig Brown (curler)
Craig Brown (born August 18, 1975) is an American curler. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, he is one of the top skips in the U.S. He was the skip of the 2000 and 2008 U.S. champion rinks. At the 2000 Ford World Curling Championships, Brown skipped the U.S. team to a fourth-place finish, losing to Finland in the final. Brown played third on the U.S. team at three World Junior Curling Championships (1994, 1995, 1997). Mike Peplinski skipped the team in 1994 and 1995, while Matt Stevens skipped the team in 1997. Brown won the bronze medal with Peplinski in 1994. At the 2014 Olympics, Brown played as alternate for the USA team. United States Mixed Curling Championship
The United States Mixed Curling Championship is the annual national curling championship for mixed curling teams in the United States. A mixed curling team consists of two men and two women with the throwing order alternating by gender. The United States Curling Association (USCA) has held the Mixed Championship annually since 1975. Starting in 2015 the winner has gone on to represent the United States at the World Mixed Curling Championship. The 2019 Mixed Curling Championship was held March 23 to 30 at the Denver Curling Club in Golden, Colorado. Ten teams qualified for the 2019 Championship through regional play-downs. On July 17, 2020 the USCA announced that the 2020 edition of the Mixed Championship would be cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Allison Pottinger ( Darragh, born July 5, 1973) is an American curler from Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She is best known as having played for Debbie McCormick in multiple Olympics and World Championships. McCormick left the team in 2010. She competed in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, in Vancouver, Canada. She was named USA female curling athlete of the year in 2008. Career Pottinger curls out of the St. Paul Curling Club in St. Paul, Minnesota. She learned how to curl in Otterburn Park, Quebec. In 1994, Pottinger was an alternate for Erika Brown's silver medal-winning team at the 1994 World Junior Curling Championships. Todd Birr (born April 20, 1968) is an American curler. He was a bronze medalist at the 2007 World Men's Curling Championship. Career Birr skipped his team to victory at the 2007 United States Curling Men's Championships, beating out teams such as Olympic bronze medalist Pete Fenson and former national champion Jason Larway in the process. He had relative success in prior nationals finishing fourth in 2006 and as a semi-finalist in 2004. His victory qualified his team of Bill Todhunter, Greg Johnson and Kevin Birr to a berth at the 2007 Ford World Men's Curling Championship representing team USA. There, Birr's was the only team to defeat Glenn Howard's Canadian team in the round robin when Howard wrecked on his last rock, and Birr bumped out a Canadian stone to score three giving him a victory. David Carlson (born 13 March 1952) is an American composer. Early life Carlson studied theory and composition at the Los Angeles High School of the Arts and with Leonard Stein at the California Institute of the Arts. From 1988 to 1992 he was coordinator of the San Francisco Symphony's ''New and Unusual Music'' series.
