Michael Stephen De Placido (born 9 March 1954) is an English former footballer who played as a winger. Career Born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, De Placido started his career with York City as an amateur before signing a professional contract in March 1972. He was capped by England at youth level during 1972. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. Non-League football describes football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional.
