Mike Davenport
Michael Sean Davenport (born 13 September 1968) is an American musician. Davenport was bass guitarist for The Ataris, joining the band in 1997 prior to the album '' Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits'' in which Davenport co-wrote the song "In Spite of the World". He also played bass on the album '' End Is Forever'' and the EP ''Look Forward to Failure'' on Fat Wreck Chords. After numerous recordings, tours, and a major label release with The Ataris, '' So Long Astoria'' in which he co-wrote the song "The Hero Dies in this One" about his father Francis Davenport, who died in a car accident in Santa Barbara county when Davenport was just 19 years old. Davenport played bass on '' Live at the Metro''. In 2005, Davenport left the band after the Ataris headed in a different musical direction. Blue Skies, Broken Hearts
Blue is one of the three primary colours in the RYB colour model (traditional colour theory), as well as in the RGB (additive) colour model. It lies between violet and cyan on the spectrum of visible light. The eye perceives blue when observing light with a dominant wavelength between approximately 450 and 495 nanometres. Most blues contain a slight mixture of other colours; azure contains some green, while ultramarine contains some violet. ''So Long, Astoria'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band The Ataris, released on March 4, 2003. The album's title song alludes to the 1985 film ''The Goonies'', which is set in Astoria, Oregon. Background In February 2001, The Ataris released their third album ''End Is Forever'' through independent label Kung Fu Records. In May, vocalist/guitarist Kris Roe revealed that the group would start writing for their next album later in the year. In June, guitarist Marco Peña left the group due to creative and personal differences. He was replaced by their guitar tech John Collura, formerly of the band Beefcake. Roe said Collura "definitely brought us back to eing thebest of friends", as well making them "realize that this band has got a lot of life in it". ''Look Forward to Failure'' is an EP released on November 10, 1998 by The Ataris on Fat Wreck Chords. This was the first album released to feature fan favorite "San Dimas High School Football Rules", a song that would later appear on '' Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits''. The band also intended on putting the song "That Special Girl" on ''Blue Skies, Broken Hearts'' as well but it didn't make the cut. The song features Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 on backing vocals. The version of "My Hotel Year" that appears on this EP is the electric version and contains an extra verse at the end. The version that ended up on ''Blue Skies'' was acoustic and shortened. ''End Is Forever'' is the third studio album by American rock band The Ataris, released on Kung-Fu Records in 2001. The album features a mix of punk and pop punk similar to the band's previous works along with catchy pop rhythms.
