Mike Basrak
Michael J. Basrak (November 23, 1912 – December 18, 1973) was an All-American US collegiate football player in the mid-1930s. Basrak was Duquesne University's first All-American selection, and the Most Valuable Player of the 1937 Orange Bowl game in Miami, in which Duquesne defeated Mississippi State University, 13-12. Later in 1937 Basrak was the first-round draft pick (#5 pick overall) of the National Football League Pittsburgh Pirates, later called the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, Basrak only played two seasons in the NFL, retiring after the 1938 season. Basrak was an officer in the United States Navy during the Second World War. Bellaire is a village (United States)#Ohio, village in Belmont County, Ohio, Belmont County, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Wheeling, West Virginia Wheeling metropolitan area, Metropolitan Statistical Area, and Wheeling is across the Ohio to the east. Niles East High School
Niles East High School was a public 4–year school in Skokie, Illinois. Operated by Niles Township High Schools District 219, Niles East was first opened in 1938 and closed after the 1979–1980 school year. Niles East's sister schools Niles West High School and Niles North High School remain open. The school was known as Niles Township High School until Niles West High School opened in 1959. The school sports teams were named the Trojans. The school's greatest claims to fame are its two Nobel Laureate alumni—perhaps even more notable because the school was open for only 42 years. The Pittsburgh Pirates are an American professional baseball team based in Pittsburgh. The Pirates compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) Central division. Founded as part of the American Association in 1881 under the name Pittsburgh Allegheny, the club joined the National League in 1887 and was a member of the National League East from 1969 through 1993.
