Mike Barr (tennis)
Mike Barr (born June 27, 1956) is an American former professional tennis player. Barr grew up near Chicago in Highland Park, Illinois and played college tennis for the University of Wisconsin–Madison, from 1975 to 1978. He served as team captain in his senior year. While competing on the professional tour he reached a career high singles ranking of 249 in the world. He featured in the men's doubles main draw at the 1980 French Open and singles main draw at the 1982 Australian Open. Highland Park, Illinois
Highland Park is a suburban city located in the southeastern part of Lake County, Illinois, United States, about north of downtown Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 30,176. Highland Park is one of several municipalities located on the North Shore of the Chicago metropolitan area. History A traveler in the area in 1833 described visiting a village of bark-covered structures where he ate roasted corn with a chief named Nic-sa-mah at a site likely located south of present-day Clavey Road and east of the Edens Expressway. In 1847, two German immigrants, John Hettinger and John Peterman founded a town along Lake Michigan, which they called St. John's. Soon, the town was abandoned, due to questions regarding ownership of the land. Réjean Genois (born December 30, 1952) is a former professional and Davis Cup tennis player from Quebec City. Genois was the top-ranked Canadian singles player during 1978 and 1979. His career high ranking of World No. 89 was the highest grand prix tour computer ranking for a Canadian until Glenn Michibata reached World No. 79 in 1984. Bernhard Pils
Bernhard Pils (born 20 October 1961) is a former professional tennis player from Austria. Career Pils was a semi-finalist in the boys' singles event at the 1979 French Open. In 1982 Australian Open, Pils competed in both the men's singles and doubles draws. He had a five set win over Mark Kratzmann in the opening round and came close to beating American Mike Estep in the second round, claiming the first two sets and taking the third into a tiebreak, but ultimately lost in another five set match. His doubles campaign ended in the first round, where he and partner Peter Feigl were beaten by Dale Collings and Cliff Letcher. Pils defeated both Christian Jessel and Juan Avendaño to make the round of 16 at the Kitzbühel Open in 1984. Jakob Hlasek ( cz, Jakub Hlásek; born 12 November 1964) is a Swiss former professional tennis player of Czech origin. He won a major doubles title at the 1992 French Open, partnering Marc Rosset. Gabriel Urpí Ribas (born 16 August 1961) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Playing career Urpi was the Orange Bowl champion in 1978 and a semi-finalist in the boys' singles event at the French Open that year. A clay court specialist, he competed in the main draw of the French Open in 1981, 1982, 1984 and 1985.
