Mike Bailey (weatherman)
Michael John Bailey (27 October 194920 June 2021) was an Australian television and radio weather presenter, journalism educator, political aspirant and football club chairman. Early life Bailey was raised in the Sydney suburb of Sefton and educated at De La Salle College, Bankstown (1959–1965) and later De La Salle College, Ashfield (1966–1967). Television and radio career He was the longtime presenter of the weekday weather segment of the ABC Sydney edition of the 7:00 p.m. news bulletin, which is also relayed to major parts of New South Wales. He also spent 13 years presenting the weather and, on occasions, the news for Sydney's Channel 7. Bailey was also a lecturer in radio journalism at Macleay College in Sydney, and a noted MC and guest speaker. Before entering politics, Bailey discussed the weather on weekday afternoons with Richard Glover on ABC Radio Sydney 702. Sefton, New South Wales
Sefton – a suburb of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown local government area—is located 23 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in New South Wales, Australia. Part of the Western Sydney region, it shares the 2162 postcode with the neighbouring Chester Hill suburb. History The name Sefton was taken from Sefton in Merseyside, England. James Wood gave the name 'Sefton Park' to the of land granted to him in 1839. Prior to subdivision, Sefton was an area of market gardens, orchards and poultry farms. Richard Glover (radio Presenter)
Richard Glover is an Australian talk radio presenter, journalist and author. He is best known as presenter of the drive program on 702 ABC Sydney. His book ''Flesh Wounds'' was voted one of the top five books of 2015 by viewers of ABC television's ''The Book Club'' and was Readers Choice Award winner as Biography of the Year in the 2016 Australian Book Industry Awards. Life and career Glover was born in Australia but spent some of his early life in Papua New Guinea. He graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts degree with first class honours. He has written 13 books, including the humour book ''Desperate Husbands'', which was a best-seller in Australia and has been published in translation in Italy and Poland. ''Romper Room'' is an American children's television series that was franchised and syndicated from 1953 to 1994. The program targeted preschoolers (children five years of age or younger), and was created and produced by Bert Claster and his presenter wife, Nancy, of Claster Television. Western Suburbs Magpies
The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) are an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as they are commonly referred to, were one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia. The club, as a sole entity, departed the top-flight competition in 1999 after forming a 50–50 joint venture with Balmain Tigers to form the Wests Tigers. ''Nine News'' (stylised ''9News'') is the national news service of the Nine Network in Australia. The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is the independent federal agency in charge of organising, conducting and supervising federal Australian elections, by-elections and referendums. Responsibilities The AEC's main responsibility is to conduct federal elections, by-elections and referendums. The AEC is also responsible for the maintenance of up-to-date electoral rolls, devising electorate boundaries, apportionments and redistributions. Joe Hockey
Joseph Benedict Hockey (born 2 August 1965) is a former Australian politician and diplomat. He was the Member of Parliament for North Sydney from 1996 until 2015.
