Mike Anderson (baseball Coach)
Michael Anderson (born June 8, 1965) is an American baseball coach and former outfielder, who is the current head baseball coach of the Northern Colorado Bears. He played college baseball at Northern Colorado from 1983 to 1986. He played in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for 4 seasons from 1986 to 1989. He served as the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers (2003–2011). In his first five seasons as the head coach, he compiled a 214–100 record. His greatest success came in 2005, when he guided Nebraska to a 57–15 record, while also taking the school to its first-ever College World Series win. Northern Colorado Bears Baseball
Northern Colorado Bears baseball is the varsity intercollegiate team representing University of Northern Colorado in the sport of college baseball in NCAA Division I. The team is led by Mike Anderson, and plays its home games at Jackson Field on campus in Greeley, Colorado. The Bears are baseball members of the Summit League, having joined in July 2021 after spending the previous eight years as baseball members of the Western Athletic Conference. Prior to the 1968 establishment of what is now the NCAA Division II baseball tournament, the Bears reached the College World Series nine times, and reached the CWS again in 1974 at the Division I level for a total of ten appearances, compiling a record of 3–20. The school was known as Colorado State College until 1970, when the school changed to its present name. 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The 2008 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from May 30 through June 25, 2008 and was part of the 2008 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 286 teams on May 26, 2008. Thirty teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and 34 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Thirty-eight of the 64 selected teams participated in the 2007 tournament. Sixty-four NCAA Division I college baseball teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament, to play in the NCAA tournament. 2005 Nebraska Cornhuskers Baseball Team
The 2005 Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team was Mike Anderson's third year as head coach. The Huskers played their home games at Hawks Field. 2004 Nebraska posted a 36–23 record, with 14 of the losses being by two runs or less as they barely missed their first NCAA regional appearance since 1998. However, the Huskers were the only Big 12 team not shut out during the whole season, and they established a school record and ranked eighth nationally with a .975 fielding percentage shattering the previous best of .971.
