Mikael Hopkins
Mikael Hopkins (born June 23, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Reggio Emilia of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). Standing at 2.06 m (6'9"), he plays the power forward position. He played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas. High school career Hopkins attended the DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. Hopkins led DeMatha to three conference and city championships. College career In October 2010, Hopkins committed to play for the Georgetown Hoyas. As a freshman, Hopkins appeared in 30 games in their 2011–12 season. Over the season, he averaged 2.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per game. On December 3, 2011, he scored season/career-high 12 points and had three rebounds in an 84–44 win over NJIT. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. The 2013 Big East men's basketball tournament, officially known as the 2013 Big East Championship, was the 34th annual Big East men's basketball tournament, deciding the champion of the 2012–13 Big East Conference men's basketball season. For the 31st consecutive season, the tournament was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City, from March 12–16, 2013. The tournament only featured 14 teams due to Connecticut being given a one-year postseason ban due to APR penalties. This would have been the last year with as many as 16 teams participating in the Big East tournament, but Connecticut was ineligible and West Virginia moved to the Big 12 before the beginning of the season.
