Mikael Blixt
Mikael Blixt (born 8 August 1964) is a former speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Blixt rode in the top tier of British Speedway during the 1982 British League season, riding for the Poole Pirates. He returned nine years later to compete in the 1991 British League season for the Berwick Bandits. Nyköping
Nyköping () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Nyköping Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 32,759 inhabitants as of 2017. The city is also the capital of Södermanland County. The 1991 British League season was the 57th season of the top tier of Motorcycle speedway, speedway in the United Kingdom and the 27th known as the British League. Summary Wolverhampton Wolves won the league for the first time in their history. The club which was first founded in 1928 had only ever won the Provincial Midland League in 1962 and the Provincial League (speedway), Provincial League in 1963. They were led by their American star Sam Ermolenko, who became the first rider to push Hans Nielsen (speedway rider), Hans Nielsen from the top of the averages after eight consecutive years at the top. Poole () is a large coastal town and seaport in Dorset, on the south coast of England. The town is east of Dorchester and adjoins Bournemouth to the east. The 1991 Individual Speedway World Championship was the 46th edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. Diminutive Danish people, Danish rider Jan O. Pedersen won his first and only World Championship with a 15-point maximum from his five rides, the last time a rider would have a perfect score in the Final. Local favourite Tony Rickardsson finished second with 12 points, with triple champion Hans Nielsen (speedway rider), Hans Nielsen of Denmark finishing third on 11 points after defeating fellow Dane Tommy Knudsen in a run-off. The 1982 British League season was the 48th season of the top tier of motorcycle speedway in the United Kingdom and the 18th known as the British League. Summary After a ten-year drought Belle Vue Aces won the league pushing defending champions Cradley Heath into second place. A special performance was going to be needed to finish ahead of the star-studded Cradley Heath team and it was the consistency of the support riders which helped Belle Vue achieve this. England international Chris Morton was the heat leader but he was supported by a group of consistent scorers throughout the season that included Larry Ross (a former 5 times New Zealand champion), the former world champion Peter Collins, the Carr brothers Louis and Peter, Dane Peter Ravn and Scot Jim McMillan. Vargarna
Vargarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Norrköping, Sweden. The team race at the Norrköpings Motorstadion. History The name Vargarna literally translates into English as "The Wolves". The team won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship five times 1949, 1951, 1953, 1954, 1960 and 1961. In recent years the club has moved up and down leagues from the Elitserien to the second tier of Swedish speedway, the Allsvenskan (National League). During the 2022 Swedish Speedway season the club reached the Allsvenskan play off final. Perhaps the club's most notable rider in recent years was the former world champion Nicki Pedersen, who signed for the team in 2010.
