Mika Špiljak
Mika Špiljak ( or ; 28 November 1916 – 18 May 2007) was a Croatian politician who spent most of his political career as a member of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia in the SFR Yugoslavia. Early years He was born in Odra Sisačka (part of Sisak), in the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia (present-day Croatia). His father Dragutin was a railway worker. Špiljak began working at the age of 16. He joined the Communist Party in 1938 and fought with Partisans during World War II. Career From 1949 to 1950, he was the mayor of Zagreb. In 1963, Špiljak was appointed the Chairman of the Executive Council of Croatia and served until his 1967 appointment as the President of the Federal Executive Council, Yugoslavia's Prime Minister. He served in that capacity until 1969. Špiljak then served as President of the collective Presidency of Yugoslavia from 1983 until 1984. The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, commonly referred to as SFR Yugoslavia or simply as Yugoslavia, was a country in Central and Southeast Europe. It emerged in 1945, following World War II, and lasted until 1992, with the breakup of Yugoslavia occurring as a consequence of the Yugoslav Wars. Ante Marković (; 25 November 1924 – 28 November 2011) was a Croatian and Yugoslav politician, businessman and engineer. Marković is most notable for having served as the last prime minister of SFR Yugoslavia. Early life Marković, was a Bosnian Croat, born in Konjic, then a part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, presently in Bosnia and Herzegovina to a poor peasant family. In 1943 he joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia and fought with the Yugoslav Partisans in World War II. He received a degree in electrical engineering from the Electrotechnical Department of the Technical Faculty of the University of Zagreb in 1954. Jakša ( sr-cyr, Јакша; 1452–53), was a military commander (''vojvodа'') in the service of Serbian Despot Đurađ Branković (r. 1427–56). Jakša is the eponymous founder of the Jakšić noble family In 1452, he was sent as a deputy of the Despot to the Republic of Ragusa.
