Mihai Olos
Mihai Olos (born 26 February 1940 in Ariniș, Romania – died 22 February 2015 in Endingen am Kaiserstuhl, Amoltern, Endigen, Germany) was a Romanian conceptual artist, poet, List of essayists, essayist. A gifted colorist in his first paintings, he became more attracted towards experimenting with various forms and materials. Familiar with the rural wood culture, he intended to follow in the footsteps of Constantin Brâncuși, combining the spirit of the local folk culture with the trends of modern and contemporary art. Intending to take further the great sculptor's experience, Olos transformed the spindle-head – a miniature of the nail-less junctions in the architecture of the wooden churches of Maramureș – into a constructive module for the project of a universal city he called "Olospolis" that he theorized and represented in different forms and materials. Ariniș
Ariniș ( hu, Égerhát) is a commune in Maramureș County, Crișana, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Ariniș, Rodina (''Rogyina''), and Tămășești (''Szilágyegerbegy''). History The village of Ariniș has been documentary certified since 1543 under the name of "Egherhat". Ariniș was archaeologically documented in the Middle Ages, named "Sub ogrăzi"; Bronze Age, Suciu de Sus culture. Economy The main economic activity in the commune is agriculture, which takes place in 582 family farms on an area of of agricultural land. Inside the village there is a fish farm. The industrial part is represented by a manufacturer of rubber products. Residents are working at several stores and warehouses of materials, too.
