The Miguel Urrutia Art Museum (Spanish: Museo de Arte Miguel Urrutia (MAMU)) is an art museum in Bogotá, Colombia. The MAMU is part of the Banrepcultural Network along with the Botero Museum, the Gold Museum, the Luis Ángel Arango Library, and the Old Mint of Colombia in Bogotá. History In 2016, the museum changed its name from the Bank of the Republic Art Museum (Spanish: Museo de Arte del Banco de la República) to the Miguel Urrutia Art Museum as an homage to Colombian economist and academic Miguel Urrutia Montoya. Collection The MAMU, alongside the Botero Museum, houses the Bank of the Republic Art Collection. Since 2013, the museum displays over 800 works of art in five curatorial departments. Pieter Brueghel (also Bruegel or Breughel) the Younger (, ; ; between 23 May and 10 October 1564 – between March and May 1638) was a Flemish painter, known for numerous copies after his father Pieter Bruegel the Elder's work as well as his original compositions. Paul Gauguin
Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (, ; ; 7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903) was a French Post-Impressionist artist. Unappreciated until after his death, Gauguin is now recognized for his experimental use of colour and Synthetist style that were distinct from Impressionism. François Désiré Roulin (August 1796 – 5 June 1874) was a French naturalist, physician and illustrator born in Rennes. From 1815 to 1820, he studied medicine at the University of Paris. Roulin visited Colombia from 1822 to 1828, becoming an expert on the natural history of the country. Vik Muniz (; born 1961) is a Brazilian artist and photographer. Initially a sculptor, Muniz grew interested with the photographic representations of his work, eventually focusing completely on photography. Henry Price (5 May 1819 – 12 December 1863) was a British musician and painter who specialized in landscape watercolors. After studying painting and violin in London, he went to New York, where he married Elisa Castello, a Colombian. In 1841, they moved to Bogotá, Colombia. In 1847, he co-founded the Philharmonic Society of Bogotá (la Sociedad Filarmónica de Bogotá) and its music school (Escuela de Música). He participated in the third phase of the Comisión Corográfica (1850–1859), led by Agustín Codazzi, who replaced the Venezuelan painter Carmelo Fernández. The Comisión Corográfica had been founded according to an 1839 law with the mission of creating an official map of Colombia and studying the country's geography. Charles Thomas Close (July 5, 1940 – August 19, 2021) was an American painter, visual artist, and photographer who made massive-scale photorealist and abstract portraits of himself and others.
