Midweek (Irish TV Series)
''Midweek'' was an Irish weekly television news magazine broadcast by TV3. Produced by TV3 News, the programme focused more on human interest stories than international and political subjects. It aired Wednesday at 22:00. History ''Midweek'' was broadcast for the first time on 9 September 2009. It was introduced at a time when TV3 was expanding its home-produced programmes. The show was scheduled for Wednesday nights to avoid a clash with ''Prime Time'' which is broadcast at a similar time on RTÉ One on Tuesday and Thursday nights. In contrast to the ''Prime Time'' programme, ''Midweek'' focused on more human interest stories rather than hard current affairs stories. RTÉ One ( ga, RTÉ a hAon) is an Irish free-to-air flagship television channel owned and operated by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). It is the most-popular and most-watched television channel in the country and was launched as ''Telefís Éireann'' on 31 December 1961, it was renamed ''RTÉ'' in 1966, and it was renamed as RTÉ 1 upon the launch of RTÉ 2 in 1978. ''Prime Time'' is an Irish current affairs television programme airing on RTÉ One on Tuesday and Thursday nights (following the '' RTÉ Nine O'Clock News''). First broadcast on RTÉ One in 1992, Miriam O'Callaghan has been its main presenter for over fifteen years. Only one show per week is broadcast during the summer months. ''Midday'' was an Irish television talk show programme skewed towards female viewers. The Show ran from 2008 to 2016. It was replaced by Elaine Crowley in 2017. Development Midday first aired on TV3 on 1 October 2008. Today, the show is skewed towards a female audience where a panellists and the main anchor tackle the hot topics and trends of the day with live feedback from viewers. The first season run of the show was hosted by Colette Fitzpatrick, Martin King and Alan Cantwell who were joined by different panellist each show. By 2009 it was decided due to its popularity with female audiences it was later decided to replace the two male anchors with an all female panellist.
