Midnight In The Labyrinth
''Midnight in the Labyrinth'' is an orchestral compilation album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth (although "orchestrations" are credited to keyboard player Mark Newby-Robson and no orchestra or string-section is listed in the album's personnel). The re-recorded songs selected are from the band's first four releases. The title comes from the lyrics of "Mistress from the Sucking Pit", a bonus track on some editions of ''Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa''. The album was released to coincide with Record Store Day on 21 April in participating countries. It was released worldwide on 4 May. Disc One features narration by Dani Filth, plus additional vocals from Sarah Jezebel Deva. Disc Two contains the same recordings minus the vocals. The first disc also includes "Goetia (Invoking the Unclean)", a thirteen-minute "aural séance", recycling the titles of Cradle's abandoned and wiped first album, and first demo. A demo of the orchestral version of "Summer Dying Fast" appear ...

Cradle Of Filth
Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved originally from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic metal and other metal genres. Their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. The band consists of its founding member, vocalist Dani Filth, drummer Martin Marthus Škaroupka, Martin 'Marthus' Škaroupka, bassist Daniel Firth, guitarists Marek 'Ashok' Šmerda and Donny Burbage, and keyboardist Zoe Marie Federoff. The band has broken free from its original niche by courting mainstream publicity. This increased accessibility has brought coverage from the likes of ''Kerrang!'' and MTV, along with frequent main stage appearances at major festivals such as Ozzfest, Download Festival, Download and even the mainstream Sziget Festival. They have sometimes been perceived as Satanism, Satanic by casual observers, even tho ...

2012 Compilation Albums
1 (one, unit, unity) is a number representing a single or the only entity. 1 is also a numerical digit and represents a single unit of counting or measurement. For example, a line segment of ''unit length'' is a line segment of length 1. In conventions of sign where zero is considered neither positive nor negative, 1 is the first and smallest positive integer. It is also sometimes considered the first of the infinite sequence of natural numbers, followed by  2, although by other definitions 1 is the second natural number, following  0. The fundamental mathematical property of 1 is to be a multiplicative identity, meaning that any number multiplied by 1 equals the same number. Most if not all properties of 1 can be deduced from this. In advanced mathematics, a multiplicative identity is often denoted 1, even if it is not a number. 1 is by convention not considered a prime number; this was not universally accepted until the mid-20th century. Additionally, 1 is the s ...

Click Track
A click track is a series of audio cues used to synchronize sound recordings, sometimes for synchronization to a moving image. The click track originated in early sound movies, where optical marks were made on the film to indicate precise timings for musical accompaniment. It can also serve a purpose similar to a metronome, as in the music industry, where it is often used during recording sessions and live performances.Gavin Harrison (August 2003).Creating Click Tracks For Drummers. Sound on Sound. Retrieved 8 June 2011. History The first known usage of "precise timing-aid" in movies may have been by Walt Disney’s team when recording music and sound effects for their early cartoons. Since the cartoons didn't have any speech yet, the gags and jokes that were seen on the screen relied heavily on the precision of the sound impact, e.g., hitting someone with a frying pan on the head is the funniest when the attached "boing" is precisely timed, as if it was "real". When the tim ...

Cruelty And The Beast
''Cruelty and the Beast'' is the third studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It is a concept album based on the legend of the Hungarian "blood countess" Elizabeth Báthory and features guest narration by actress Ingrid Pitt in-character as Báthory, a role she first played in the Hammer Horror film ''Countess Dracula'' in 1971. It was released on 5 May 1998 by record label Music for Nations. The album, while positively received, was noted for its poor production by fans, critics and members of the band alike. A remixed and remastered edition, titled ''Cruelty and the Beast – Re-Mistressed'', was released in November 2019. In November 2021, during an AMA with Dani Filth on reddit, it was revealed that the track, "Bathory Aria" was the track Dani was most proud of out of the band's entire catalog. Recording and production This was the last Cradle of Filth album to feature guitarist and songwriter Stuart Anstis, keyboardist Lecter and drummer Nichola ...

Dusk
Dusk occurs at the darkest stage of twilight, or at the very end of astronomical twilight after sunset and just before nightfall.''The Random House College Dictionary'', "dusk". At predusk, during early to intermediate stages of twilight, enough light in the sky under clear conditions may occur to read outdoors without artificial illumination; however, at the end of civil twilight (when Earth rotates to a point at which the center of the Sun's disk is 6° below the local horizon), such lighting is required to read outside. The term ''dusk'' usually refers to astronomical dusk, or the darkest part of twilight before night begins. Technical definitions The time of dusk is the moment at the very end of astronomical twilight, just before the minimum brightness of the night sky sets in, or may be thought of as ''the darkest part of evening twilight''. However, technically, the three stages of dusk are as follows: *At civil dusk, the center of the Sun's disc goes 6° below the ...

V Empire Or Dark Faerytales In Phallustein
''V Empire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein'' is an EP by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth, and the first release following their 1994 debut studio album '' The Principle of Evil Made Flesh''. It was released on 22 April 1996, and was the band's final release for Cacophonous Records. Recording ''V Empire'' was hastily written and recorded for Cacophonous Records as a contractual obligation before the band jumped ship to Music for Nations. As such, it is the first of two albums released in 1996, the other being '' Dusk... and Her Embrace''. Half of the band was replaced for this recording, with Stuart Anstis replacing guitarists Paul Allender and Paul Ryan and Damien Gregori replacing keyboardist Benjamin Ryan. All the guitars on ''V Empire'' were performed by Anstis. The name "Jared Demeter" listed as a second guitarist in the liner notes included in the booklet of the EP is just a made-up name to give the impression that there were two guitarists on the EP. Als ...

The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh
''The Principle of Evil Made Flesh'' is the debut studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It was released on 24 February 1994 through Cacophonous Records, following three demos released between 1991 and 1993. The album's sound is significantly more raw than on subsequent releases, and frontman Dani Filth's vocals differ from his later style and technique. The album is a then-unusual hybrid of gothic metal and black metal. This would be the only album featuring guitarist Paul Ryan and keyboardist Benjamin Ryan; guitarist Paul Allender also left the band at this point, but returned five years later for ''Midian''. Some of the tracks from this album were later re-recorded for '' V Empire'' (1996), '' Bitter Suites to Succubi'' (2001), Evermore Darkly (2011) and '' Midnight in the Labyrinth'' (2012). Musical style In the book ''The Gospel of Filth'', Gavin Baddeley describes the album and its place within (or alongside) the contemporary black metal scene: ...
