''Midnight Shadow'' is a 1939 film with an all African-American cast. It was directed and produced by George Randol, who was also African American. Plot The mind-reading Prince Alihabad courts a girl from Oklahoma played by Frances E. Redd. Her parents want to make her happy, but they do not like that Alihabad worships Allah. A killer is on the loose and locals fear that it might be Alihabad. George Randol
George Randol (1895–1973) was an actor, screenwriter, director, and producer of films in the United States. In 1938 he was honored as an influential film executive in a newspaper writeup of the "Negro" film industry. Randol was born in Buena Vista, Virginia. Randol had numerous theatrical roles. He was a partner in the short-lived Cooper-Randol Production Company of Los Angeles that delivered only ''Dark Manhattan''. He continued on with another partnership. He was in the Broadway production of ''Anna Lucasta (play), Anna Lucasta''. Korla Pandit (September 16, 1921 – October 2, 1998), born John Roland Redd, was an American musician, composer, pianist, and organist. After moving to California in the late 1940s and getting involved in show business, Redd became known as "Korla Pandit", a French-Indian musician from New Delhi, India. However, Redd was actually a light-skinned African-American man from Missouri who passed as Indian.
