Midland-Guildford Cricket Club
Midland Guildford Cricket Club plays in the Western Australian Grade Cricket competition. Their home ground is Lilac Hill Park. History Midland Guildford Cricket Club started its association with the WACA in 1902/03 when it submitted a B-Grade team in the WACA Competition under the name Midland Junction and District Turf Cricket Club. In 1910/11 the club was admitted to the First Grade competition with a team also playing in B2-Grade. The home ground at the time was Midland Oval. In 1914/15 Midland Junction's area took in the Swan District region and changed its name to Midland-Swan Cricket Club. In 1918/19, arising from the post-war reconstruction of the club, and in deference to the many players from Guildford, the Club's name was again changed to the Midland Guildford Cricket Club. Western Australian Grade Cricket
WA Premier Cricket in Western Australia refers to the semi-professional cricket league played at a level below the first-class Western Warriors and other state teams. The competition is administered by the Western Australian Cricket Association. It is the premier club cricket competition in Western Australia and players vying for Western Warriors and national team selection are typically chosen from Premier Cricket competition clubs. Retiring international and first-class players wishing to continue playing will generally return to their original Premier Cricket club. There are currently 16 teams in the competition. History 1st Grade clubs compete for the 'Alcohol.Think Again District Cricket Competition Shield'. The First Grade minor premiers win the 'Kevin Sullivan Silver Cup' as well as a cash prize of $3000. Keith Slater
Keith Nichol Slater (born 12 March 1935) is a former Western Australian cricketer and West Australian Football League (WAFL) player. Cricket career In cricket, Slater was an all-rounder who played in only one Test match, against England in 1958–59, but he played 67 first-class matches for Western Australia between 1955 and 1968. He had his best batting season in 1963–64, scoring 655 runs at an average of 38.52, and scored his only century, 154 against Queensland, when he opened the batting and helped Western Australia avert defeat. His best bowling season was 1960–61, when he took 30 wickets at an average of 32.43. He toured New Zealand with the Australian team in 1959-60, playing in two of the four matches against New Zealand. Tom Colley
Thomas Lewis Colley (August 21, 1953 – November 17, 2021) was a Canadian professional ice hockey centre. He played one game in the National Hockey League, with the Minnesota North Stars on March 12, 1975. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1973 to 1986, was spent in the minor leagues. Colley's son, Kevin, also played in the NHL. Playing career As a youth, Colley played in the 1966 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Toronto Weston minor ice hockey team. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Colley played junior hockey for the Niagara Falls Flyers and the Sudbury Wolves, scoring 117 points including 81 assists. Colley was drafted 57th overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft and 38th overall by the New England Whalers in the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft. Dom Sibley
Dominic Peter Sibley (born 5 September 1995) is an English professional cricketer who plays internationally for the England Test cricket team. In domestic cricket, he represents Warwickshire, having previously played for Surrey. Sibley made his Test debut in 2019. He plays as a right-handed opening batsman. Tim Zoehrer
Timothy Joseph Zoehrer (born 25 September 1961) is a former Australian cricket player. He played as a wicket-keeper and is of Austrian descent. He began his career in the 1980–81 season with Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield as an understudy to Rod Marsh. After Marsh's retirement he became the number one state keeper and eventually the Australian Test keeper. He played ten Test matches between 1986 and 1987 when Australia were far from the top team in the world, touring New Zealand and India. He also played 22 One Day Internationals. Zoehrer claims he was replaced as first-choice keeper after a personality clash with Australian coach and newly appointed selector, Bob Simpson. He was replaced firstly by Greg Dyer and then Ian Healy. Zoehrer did, though, tour England twice, in 1989 and 1993, as Healy's deputy. Bruce Yardley
Bruce Yardley (5 September 1947 – 27 March 2019) was an Australian cricketer who played in 33 Test matches and seven One Day Internationals between 1978 and 1983, taking 126 Test wickets. Known to his teammates as 'Roo', Yardley was an off-spin bowler who began as a fast-medium pace seamer. In his late 20s Yardley switched to off-spin and had success at club and then state level. His technique was slightly unusual in that he bowled at near medium pace, spinning the ball off his middle finger rather than the index finger like conventional off-spinners. Thomas Masson Moody (born 2 October 1965) is a former Australian international cricketer and current Director of Cricket of Sri Lanka Cricket. Lilac Hill Park
Lilac Hill is a cricket ground in Western Australia in the Perth suburb of Caversham, where the Swan River flows around its southern and eastern sides. The ends of the ground are known as the ''river end'' and the ''pavilion end''. In 1990 the West Australian Cricket Association (WACA) hosted a festival match at the ground, with a Cricket Australia's Chairman's XI playing the touring English XI. Since then, the WACA has continued to host an annual match at Lilac Hill against the visiting international cricket team and a Chairman's XI. The inaugural 1990 match set an attendance record of 12,000 and subsequent years have attracted good crowds also. Continuation of the match in Perth has been under pressure in recent years due to the full schedule of touring teams. Anthony Longford Mann (8 November 1945 – 15 November 2019) was an Australian cricketer who played in four Test matches during the 1977/78 season. He was only the second man in history to score a century in a Test match after being sent in as nightwatchman. Career Born in Middle Swan, Western Australia, Mann was a leg break bowler with a sharp googly. He was almost selected for 1969–70 Australian Second XI Tour of New Zealand when the Test players were in India and South Africa. A useful batsman, he made the Test side during the first season of the Packer schism. He was in England during 1971-72 when, while playing at club level for Lancashire's Bacup Cricket Club, he also appeared at county level for Shropshire. Simon Katich
Simon Matthew Katich (born 21 August 1975) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. He captained New South Wales and also, until the end of the 2007 season, Derbyshire County Cricket Club. Katich also played for Lancashire, represented his birth state of Western Australia and played in Indian Premier League for Kings XI Punjab. He played primarily as a left-handed opening batter and part-time left-arm unorthodox spin bowler. He played 56 Test matches for Australia from 2001 to 2011. On 12 June 2012 Katich retired from first-class cricket in Australia, but returned to play for Western Australia in 2013. In August 2019, Katich was appointed as the Head Coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore, and was present at the 2020 IPL Player Auction in Kolkata in December 2019.
