Middleton S. Elliott
Middleton Stuart Elliott Jr. (October 16, 1872 – October 29, 1952) was a United States Navy admiral and a Medal of Honor recipient for his role in the United States occupation of Veracruz. Biography Elliott was born on October 16, 1872, in Beaufort, South Carolina. His father was Middleton Stuart Elliott Sr. (1841–1921), who served in the Beaufort Volunteer Artillery in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. His uncle was Brigadier General Stephen Elliott. He was raised in Beaufort and attended medical school at Columbia College, known later as George Washington University. Elliott was appointed from South Carolina to the United States Navy as a Passed Assistant Surgeon, with the rank of ensign. United States Naval Districts
The naval district was a U.S. Navy military and administrative command ashore. Apart from Naval District Washington, the Districts were disestablished and renamed Navy Regions about 1999, and are now under Commander, Naval Installations Command (CNIC). The Mare Island Naval Shipyard (MINSY) was the first United States Navy base established on the Pacific Ocean. It is located northeast of San Francisco in Vallejo, California. Cañacao Bay
Cañacao Bay is a small bay located within the larger Manila Bay in Luzon island in the Philippines. It is located along the northeastern end of the Cavite Peninsula and Cavite City, in the Province of Cavite.''Webster's New Geographical Dictionary'', p. 210. The bay is a good anchorage and it is bordered to the north by the Danilo Atienza Air Base of the Philippine Air Force and by the Naval Base Cavite of the Philippine Navy to the south. In the United States, commander is a military rank that is also sometimes used as a military billet title—the designation of someone who manages living quarters or a base—depending on the branch of service. It is also used as a rank or title in non-military organizations; particularly in law enforcement.
