Keith Middlemas
Robert Keith Middlemas (1935–2013) was an English historian, known for works on modern European political history. Life Middlemas was born in Alnwick, Northumberland on 26 May 1935. He was educated at Stowe School and then joined the Northumberland Fusiliers, before entering Pembroke College, Cambridge, graduating with a first class degree in history. Entering the Civil Service, Middlemas worked as a House of Commons clerk for nine years. John Robert Middlemas (17 January 1896 – 24 April 1984) was an English footballer. Career Easington-born Middlemas played for Herrington Swifts and Blyth Spartans before joining Hull City in March 1922. After making 10 league appearances for Hull, he joined York City in the summer of 1923. He made his debut for the club in the first game of the 1923–24 season against Scunthorpe United in the Midland League. He scored in York's first game in the FA Cup, which they won 2–1 against Castleford & Allerton United in September 1923. Clive Middlemass (25 August 1944 – 4 July 2022) was an English professional footballer and manager. Playing career As a player, Middlemass made 169 appearances in the Football League as a defender for Workington before a near fatal car crash ended his career. Middlemass had gone to see his parents in Sheffield (with his wife and son) to inform them about a possible transfer to Ipswich Town. However, on the way home his car was hit by a lorry near Bradford. After nearly a year out of the game, Middlemass returned to the side at Workington (then in the 3rd tier), but after a few appearances he realised his injuries had been too severe, and retired from professional playing. Herbert Middlemiss (19 December 1888 – 28 June 1941) was an English professional footballer who played for Stalybridge Rovers, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers. Charles Stewart Middlemiss
Charles Stewart Middlemiss FRS (1859, Kingston upon Hull – 11 June 1945, Royal Tunbridge Wells) was a British geologist who worked in British India and the Princely States. After education at Caistor Grammar School, Middlemiss matriculated in 1878 at St John's College, Cambridge and graduated there in 1881 with B.A. and then spent two more years in private study of geology. On 21 September 1883 he joined the Geological Survey of India as Assistant Superintendent. In the service of the Geological Survey of India he became in 1889 Deputy Superintendent and in 1895 Superintendent, retiring in April 1917. He then went into the service of the Maharaja of Kasmir and Jammu. He was given the title of Superintendent, Mineral Survey of Jammu and Kashmir State, and held this position from 1917 to 1930.
