Middlefield, New York
Middlefield is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. The population was 2,114 at the 2010 census. The Town of Middlefield is in the northeastern part of the county. It is the largest town by area in the county. History Settlers from Scotland and Ireland moved into this area around 1755. The first settlements were made near Middlefield village, which was formed from the Town of Cherry Valley in 1797. The Phoenix cotton mill was started in 1815, but became a wool mill in 1866. Brewery Ommegang, which specializes in Belgian-style ales, opened in the Town of Middlefield in 1997. The Middlefield Hamlet Historic District and Benjamin D. Greek Revival Architecture
The Greek Revival was an architectural movement which began in the middle of the 18th century but which particularly flourished in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, predominantly in northern Europe and the United States and Canada, but also in Greece itself following independence in 1832.
