''Games of Middle Earth'' is a trilogy of board games published by Simulations Publications, Inc. in 1977 that are all based on the epic fantasy novel ''The Lord of the Rings'' by J. R. R. Tolkien. It was a bestseller for SPI even before its publication, and remained at or near the top of SPI's Top Ten list for two years. An adventure is an exciting experience or undertaking that is typically bold, sometimes risky. A hex map, hex board, or hex grid is a game board design commonly used in wargames of all scales. The map is subdivided into a hexagonal tiling, small regular hexagons of identical size. Advantages and disadvantages The primary advantage of a hex map over a traditional square grid map is that the distance between the center of each and every pair of adjacent hex cells (or ''hex'') is the same. By comparison, in a square grid map, the distance from the center of each square cell to the center of the four diagonal adjacent cells it shares a corner with is times that of the distance to the center of the four adjacent cells it shares an edge with. This equidistant property of all adjacent hexes is desirable for games in which the measurement of movement is a factor. Gil-galad is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, the last High King of the Noldor, one of the main divisions of Elves. He is mentioned in ''The Lord of the Rings'', where the hobbit Sam Gamgee recites a fragment of a poem about him, and ''The Silmarillion''. Isildur
Isildur is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, the elder son of Elendil, descended from Elros, the founder of the island Kingdom of Númenor. He fled with his father when the island was drowned, becoming in his turn King of Arnor and Gondor. He cut the One Ring, Ring from Sauron's hand, but instead of destroying it, Addiction to power in The Lord of the Rings, was corrupted by its power and claimed it for his own. Elendil

Sauron (pronounced ) is the title character and the primary antagonist, through the forging of the One Ring, of J. R. R.
