The Middelburg Tigers are a South African professional rugby league club based in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. The first competed in the 2011-12 Rhino Club Challenge, 2011-12 season representing the ''Mpumalanga Panthers'', with the Ermelo Tomahawks at the time. In the 2013-14 Rhino Club Challenge, 2013-14 season, they became the runners-up to the TUKS Rugby League club. NORG
Norg is a village in the northeastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Noordenveld, Drenthe. It used to be an independent municipality until 1998. Norg is home to two windmills. History Norg is an ''esdorp'' which developed in the Middle Ages on higher grounds. It was first mentioned in 1149 as Nurch. The etymology of the name is unknown. Norg contains six communal pastures around which houses were built. The Dutch Reformed Church is a 13th century Romanesque church on the Church Brink, which has a saddle-roof tower. Norg developed during the peat exploitation in the area. In 1931, "Vacantie en Rustoord Den en Duin" planned to built a large holiday resort in the forest near the village. Even though their plans did not come to fruition, several smaller resorts have been established in Norg. Middelburg, Mpumalanga
Middelburg is a large farming and industrial town in the South African province of Mpumalanga. History It was initially established as a halfway station between Lydenburg and Pretoria by the Republic of Lydenburg in 1860. That republic would merge with the South African Republic (ZAR) soon afterwards. The proposed town was established on two farms, ''Klipfontein'' and ''Keerom'' but when the Dutch Reformed Church established a church next door on the farm ''Sterkfontein'', the town would be moved there. It was established as Nasareth, in 1864 by the Voortrekkers on the banks of the Klein Olifants River. It was changed in 1872 to Middelburg to mark its location between the Transvaal capital Pretoria, and the gold mining town of Lydenburg. The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1890. Rhino Cup
The Rhino Cup (named the Kobus Botha Rhino Cup after the South African Rugby League Hall of Famer, formerly the Rhino Club Challenge) is a semi-professional rugby league competition in South Africa and is the national first division competition. The competition currently consists of eight teams. The current holders are the TUKS Reds, based in the University of Pretoria, who beat the St Helens Vultures 30-22 in the 2021-22 Grand Final. Rugby league is a team sport played in South Africa. There has been three dynasties of rugby league in South Africa that attempted to establish a thriving rugby league. Not all attempts were in the interest of South Africans; rather an interest in financial windfall. Others took to the townships and promoted the league at the grass roots, which saw some of the most successful periods of rugby league in South Africa. The game has changed over 50 years of involvement in South Africa and today is played by a small number of teams in three competitions—the Rhino Cup, Protea Cup and Western Province Rugby League—which are administered by the South African Rugby League.
