Regions Of Western Australia
Western Australia (WA) is divided into regions according to a number of systems. The most common system is the WA Government division of the state into regions for economic development purposes, which comprises nine defined regions; however, there are a number of other systems, including those made for purposes of land management (such as agriculture and conservation), information gathering (such as statistical and meteorological), and election for political office. The various different systems were defined for different purposes, and give specific boundaries, but although many of the different systems' regions have similar names, they have different boundaries; the names and boundaries of regions can and do vary between systems. South West Newspapers
This is a list of newspapers published in, or for, the South West region of Western Australia. The South West is Western Australia's most popular regional tourist destination. The region also has a notable agriculture industry; crops such as grapes, apples and avocados, account for 60% of the regions agricultural commodities. Kimberley Newspapers
A modest number of newspapers have been produced in, or for, the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Few are still being published today. Some of the newspapers reflect the economic interests of the region, but not to the same extent that is seen in Pilbara newspapers. There is some cross-over between newspapers distributed in both the Kimberley and the Pilbara. The Kimberley region has the second lowest population in Western Australia, accounting for approximately 6% of the state's population. However, from 2009 to 2013 the Kimberley experienced above average population growth at 2.7%. The low population numbers are reflected in the small number of Kimberley newspapers. Goldfields-Esperance Newspapers
This is a list of newspapers published in, or for, the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. Newspapers published in the goldfields, and the people involved, in the late 1890s and early 1900s during the expansive stage of the goldfields, were of considerable political impact on Western Australian politics. The seeking of adequate representation of goldfields interests over the coast in the Perth based parliament was a constant issues over the early decades of the newspapers. Goldfields-Esperance is the biggest region in Western Australia. Its population is just under 60,000. The regions involvement in the mining industry is reflected in a number of its newspapers. History ''The Northern Times'' was published from 26 August 1905 to 26 August 1983 in Carnarvon, Western Australia. It absorbed the ''Geraldton-Greenough Sun'' and changed title to the ''North West Telegraph''.
