Mid Ulster Film Festival
The Mid Ulster Film Festival is an international film festival, established in 2004 by Mary Mullin and Roisin Nevin. Hugh Mullin and Geoffrey Sproule, film co-ordinator and technician, joined in 2005. The festival was cancelled in 2010 due to a lack of funding needed to run event. 2009 Festival The 6th Annual Mid Ulster Film Festival took place on 1–3 May 2009. In all, over 80 films were shown over the course of the weekend. To accommodate these showings there was a total of four studios, three studios inside the main building at The Ulster History Park, and The Cinemobile, a large custom-made truck housing a complete cinema with capacity for over 100 people. 2007 and 2008 festivals In 2008, the Film Festival was held in An Creagán Visitor Centre near Omagh on 2–4 May 2008 and included feature films and over 50 short films, including '' John, I'm Sorry'', foreign-language films, documentaries, workshops and seminars. Proud (film)
''Proud'' is a 2004 film directed by Mary Pat Kelly and stars veteran actor and activist Ossie Davis, in his final film performance. The motion picture was filmed in Elmira NY and Buffalo, NY. The screenplay was written by Kelly based on her non-fiction book ''Proudly We Served'' (1999). ''Proud'' was an Official Selection of The Third Annual Buffalo International Film Festival in 2009. Mary Pat Kelly and Lorenzo Dufau (last surviving crew member) introduced the screening. Premise The film focuses on the meritorious service of the USS Mason (DE-529) of World War II, the first US Navy ship with a predominantly African American crew, and how three of the men were finally honored in January 1994 for their meritorious service. The Last King Of Scotland (film)
''The Last King of Scotland'' is a 2006 historical drama film directed by Kevin Macdonald from a screenplay by Peter Morgan and Jeremy Brock. Based on Giles Foden's 1998 novel, it depicts the dictatorship of Ugandan President Idi Amin through the perspective of a fictional Scottish doctor. The film stars Forest Whitaker and James McAvoy in these respective roles, with Kerry Washington, Simon McBurney, and Gillian Anderson in supporting roles. The title of the film refers to Amin's claim of being the King of Scotland. A British and German co-production, the film was released in the United States on 27 September 2006 and in the United Kingdom on 12 January 2007.
