Mickey Mouse Adventures
''Mickey Mouse Adventures'' was a Disney comic book first published by Disney Comics from 1990 to 1991. It featured Mickey Mouse as the main character along with other characters from the Mickey Mouse universe. Somewhat similar in style to the animated series ''DuckTales'', it was based on the continuity of earlier print material starring Mickey, mainly Floyd Gottfredson's stories in the ''Mickey Mouse'' comic strip. These stories usually featured Mickey, with the help of longtime friends Goofy, Donald Duck, Pluto, Minnie Mouse, Horace Horsecollar, and Clarabelle Cow, having adventures in or out of Mouseton against adversaries such as The Phantom Blot, Big Bad Pete, Emil Eagle, and even newcomer villains like Wiley Wildbeest, Ms. Vixen, and Prince Penguin. Disney Comics is currently a label of Disney Publishing Worldwide and was a comic book publishing company operated by The Walt Disney Company from 1990 to 1993. It was connected with W. D. ''Walt Disney Comics Digest'' was one of three digest size comics published by Gold Key Comics in the early 1970s. The other two were ''Mystery Comics Digest'' and ''Golden Comics Digest''. It was the first digest-sized regular Disney comic published in the US, and was very successful, offering relief from the company's slipping comic book sales. ''Walt Disney Comics Digest'' was published for 57 issues from 1968 to 1976. It was published as its own regular series in November 1952, starting with issue #26. ''Mickey Mouse Magazine'' is an American Disney comics publication that preceded the popular 1940 anthology comic book ''Walt Disney's Comics and Stories''. There were three versions of the title – two promotional giveaway magazines published from 1933 to 1935, and a newsstand magazine published from 1935 to 1940. The publication gradually evolved from a 16-page booklet of illustrated text stories and single-page comic panels into a 64-page comic book featuring reprints of the ''Mickey Mouse'' and ''Donald Duck'' comic strips. The first version of the magazine was founded by Kay Kamen, the merchandising representative for Walt Disney Enterprises, and was given away by department stores and movie theaters that promoted Disney products. Gladstone Publishing
Gladstone Publishing was an American company that published Disney comics from 1986 to 1990 and from 1993 to 1998. The company had its origins as a subsidiary of Another Rainbow Publishing, a company formed by Bruce Hamilton and Russ Cochran to publish the Carl Barks Library and produce limited edition lithographs of Carl Barks oil paintings of the Disney ducks. The name references Gladstone Gander. Reprints of classic Donald Duck stories by Carl Barks and Mickey Mouse stories by Floyd Gottfredson were the foundation of their output. Don Rosa, William Van Horn, and Pat Block are among the modern Disney comics artists who got their start at Gladstone. Some of the Van Horn stories had scripts by frequent collaborator John Lustig.
