Mickey Lang
Mickey Lang (born August 13, 1986) is an American former professional ice hockey player. He has also been a junior ice hockey head coach since retiring as a player. Undrafted out of Manhattanville College, on January 27, 2013, Lang was released from his tryout contract with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, and returned to the Quad City Mallards to finish the 2012–13 CHL season where he was rewarded for his outstanding play by being named to the 2012–13 All-CHL Team. On July 9, 2013, Lang was signed to a one-year deal as a free agent with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL. On December 28, 2013, Lang was traded by the Komets to the Orlando Solar Bears in exchange for David Rutherford. Lang blossomed with the Solar Bears in the 2013–14 season, finishing with 51 points in just 37 games, to earn a selection to the ECHL First All-Star Team and ECHL MVP honors. Rockford IceHogs
The Rockford IceHogs are a professional ice hockey team based in Rockford, Illinois. They are members of the American Hockey League (AHL), having begun play in the League starting in the 2007–08 season. The team plays their home games at the BMO Harris Bank Center, and they serve as the top minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Chicago Blackhawks. 2013–14 ECHL Season
The 2013–14 ECHL season was the 26th season of the ECHL. The regular season schedule ran from October 18, 2013, to April 13, 2014, followed by the Kelly Cup playoffs. The league began the season with 22 teams scheduled to play 72 regular season games each, but one team folded during the season, which required the league to reschedule games in order to provide the remaining teams with full schedules. Central Hockey League
The Central Hockey League (CHL) was a North American mid-level minor professional ice hockey league which operated from 1992 until 2014. It was founded by Ray Miron and Bill Levins and later sold to Global Entertainment Corporation, which operated the league from 2000 to 2013, at which point it was purchased by the individual franchise owners. As of the end of its final season in 2014, three of the 30 National Hockey League teams had affiliations with the CHL: the Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays
The Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star () or the Shenzhen KRS () are a professional ice hockey team in the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL). They are based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China and their home is Shenzhen Dayun Arena. In response to heightened entry restrictions in Russia amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the team temporarily relocated to Mytishchi, a town in Moscow Oblast, for the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons. Their temporary home is Mytishchi Arena, which they share with Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The Eastern Hockey League (EHL) is an American Tier III Junior ice hockey league with teams in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. New York Apple Core
The New York Apple Core are a Tier III Junior A ice hockey team from Brewster, New York, playing in the Eastern Hockey League. The team plays home games at the Brewster Ice Arena. The Apple Core organization is based out of Long Beach, New York, on Long Island, however, their top level junior team has played in Brewster since the start of the 2011–12 season. Western States Hockey League
The Western States Hockey League (WSHL) was a junior ice hockey league established in 1993. It was sanctioned by the United Hockey Union, the junior hockey branch of the Amateur Athletic Union. Previously, it was sanctioned by USA Hockey from 1994 to 2011. Teams played approximately 50 games in the regular season schedule, mimicking what players would experience at the collegiate level. As of January 2022, there are no active teams in the league following the creation of the Can-Am Junior Hockey League by former WSHL teams. The United Hockey Union (UHU), founded in 2012, is a group of ice hockey leagues in North America. The UHU is overseen and insured by the Amateur Athletic Union. Neither body is recognized by USA Hockey, Hockey Canada, or the International Ice Hockey Federation. History In 2011, the AAU expressed interest in sanctioning junior ice hockey leagues. Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country.
