Mickey Billingham
Mickey Billingham (also credited Micky Billingham) is an English Keyboard instrument, keyboardist. He was the former keyboardist of the pop rock band Dexys Midnight Runners. After the band broke up, he and another member, Andy "Stoker" Growcott, became co-founding members of New wave music, new wave band General Public, contributing to the band's debut studio album ''All the Rage (General Public album), All the Rage'' (1984). Billingham went on to play in The Beat (British band), the Beat with Ranking Roger and Everett Morton, who have both since died. As well as being in the Beat, Billingham also teaches singing and performance techniques at Dudley College in the West Midlands (county), West Midlands. Dexys Midnight Runners (currently officially Dexys, their former nickname, styled without an apostrophe) are an English pop rock band from Birmingham, with soul influences, who achieved major commercial success in the early to mid-1980s. They are best known in the UK for their songs "Come On Eileen" and "Geno", both of which peaked at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, as well as six other top-20 singles. West Midlands is a metropolitan county in the West Midlands Region, England, with a 2021 population of 2,919,600, making it the second most populous county in England after Greater London. Dudley College
Dudley College of Technology is a further and higher education college based in Dudley, England. The college's history dates to 1862, when the Dudley Public Hall and Mechanics Institute was first built. Since that date the college has continued to provide technical and vocational education. In June 2017 Ofsted rated the college as an outstanding provider. ''All the Rage'' is the debut studio album by English new wave band General Public, released on 28 January 1984 by I.R.S. Records. It was recorded digitally. After his expulsion from the Clash, Mick Jones was a founding member of General Public. Though he is listed in the credits of the album as a member, Jones left General Public part way through the recording process and was replaced by Kevin White. White's picture appears on the back cover; Jones' picture does not. Jones did play guitar on many of the album's tracks however, including " Tenderness". The album spent 39 weeks on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart and reached its peak position of No. 26 in mid-February 1985. However, it failed to chart in their home country. New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. Andy "Stoker" Growcott
Andrew Growcott (a.k.a. Stoker) is a former member of the pop rock band Dexys Midnight Runners. After the Dexys broke up, he and another bandmate, Mickey Billingham, joined new wave band General Public. Growcott also played with Stephen Tin Tin Duffy in the early 1980s. He has since transitioned into a career as an audio engineer, working on albums such as Ice Cube's ''Death Certificate'' (1991).
